Old Ugly, T-case Question?

When we seperated the T-case from the Getrag, the bellhousing around the input shaft on the NP-205 had about a pint of gear oil in it ? Is this normal or is the T-case input shaft seal leaking? Thanks for your help. GregH

I have had 2 apart an both were bone dry with red rust in connecting sleve. My guess is the seal is leaking unless someone purposely put lube in there.

There was rust inside on all surfaces not contacted by the oil. . The gearboxes were not seperated since new. Thanks, GregH
