Competition What gear to pull in?

Off Roading Baja Proven Suspension

Nice pull Scott. You do need another set of tires though, those swampers dont work very good on the tight tracks. They might work better if you take another inch of the tread off though. Good Job !

Scott... ... ... . On the air, I think if you have the head O-ringed and the studs clamped to 150 lbs, that will hold more than you would ever believe, that is with about . 012 protrusion. But then I'm one of those that believes why make more boost that you can use. Make 120 lbs, but show me you will ever use it. Such as why add more fuel and let most of it most of it drip out the tail pipe?

OK, enough of that.

Mine is a little different as I use 14mm's now but still have the single O-Ring..... 018 protrusion though and have never had any issue!

Joes right- the Duramaxes are using Allisons!

To my knowledge, this is the only SFI dual disc, truly streetable pulling clutch out there.

Knowing how Scott pulls, Oo. if it handled that, I expect it will handle about anything.

No doubt It will soon be the standard clutch for pullers who still want to street their truck, or just aren't quite ready for a weighted deal.

It also has been the ONLY part on my truck that hasn't been giving me fits this year.

I'll trade ya... . At least you get to drive yours! I've got my head off for the 5th time since October..... can't get the dang thing to seal! :{ :{ :{ :{ Blew the headgasket in different places EVERY time..... This time it's cylinder 5 Compression to coolant and oil to coolant.

Josh

it looks like a well built nice unit but its not the only streetable sfi clutch out there there is at least one other that is very well mannered for the street.

ted

how the hell did you not destroy something, i have never seen boggers just take off that hard, looked like a top fueler but with four wheel drive and boggers, that was awesome and congratulations

Josh, dude sorry about your luck with the head man, hope you get this time huh.

TCluff: I have no idea, I do have some heavier then stock parts though :-laf

Thanx, I pulled it appart again last night... . Numbers 5 and 6 blew the headgasket again. Straight edge shows the block and head are straight! :{

Near as I can tell one or the other (head) isn't straight when it's torqued down. the headgasket shows 'crush' marks on the block side, but in 3 places on the head side it's not 'crushed' like it should be along the coolant/oil passages.

This gasket was a stock Cummins gasket and 12mm Studs torqued to 125. All seemed to be quite close to torque when I was removing them.

Josh

Josh, have you ever milled the head before putting it back on. Mark up at Piers advised me to have it milled even though it "looked straight" What are you allowed on a stock head, stock boost, . 002" over the length of the head? Thats going to be real hard to see even with a good straight edge and feeler gauges. The shop took . 010" off my head, and I put a . 010" thicker Cummins gasket on and its held fine for longer then the first head gasket repair did.

Michael

I think that's what I'm going to do at this point Michael. Monday I'll have the head milled and then I'm going to fire ring it. Get it over with! SpicyJam and TurboTweaker are going to come out to the shop today and look at it and see what we can find. Something is amiss and I don't see it!

Josh

Is the . 012 and . 018 protrusion the distance the oring protrudes from the block? (this is a thread about a clutch right?!?!) :D

Just seemed a good time to ask. If so, how far can an O-ring protrude before it does more harm than good?

SORRY SCOTT! I didn't mean to hi-jack your thread!

I'm not sure about the protrusion. I haven't reasearched that part of the firerings enough.

Well, the straight edge that I have used over and over on this head... . is only 12'' long. Well that's just enough to not be able to tell that the head is indeed warped. I'm going to have it milled this week. It's like a wave, front is high, between 2 and 3 it's low, 4 it's high, then low then back high at the back.

When you open up your viewer, and you pass up all your good downloaded porno to watch scott's truck... you might be a (redneck) diesel freak.
