I keep having a check engine light come on and the code read-out is for #PO216 "injection pump failure". About 2 weeks ago the light came on and this was the code that showed up. I had the code cleared and then it came on again last night when I backed out of the garage; we read the code at noon and it was the same; we cleared the code and then about 2 hours later it came on again when I started the truck.

What is happening? Am I losing my injection pump? I have good fuel pressure(17psi at idle and it never drops below 10, even when pulling hard). I changed fuel filters 8,000 miles ago. Normally I run a Diablo Power Puck, but at noon today I unplugged it when we cleared the code (thinking the problem might lie with the Puck), then 2 hours later the check engine light came on again when I started the truck.

I am running an electric auxillary fuel pump and have been for a couple of years. The factory lift pump is still in place.

Additives MIGHT head off a lot of potential pump failures - like excessive water in fuel, fuel jelling in cold temps, poor fuel lubricity - all bad news for injection pumps, and only using additives "occasionally" *might* be the same as only taking yer HEART medicine "occasionally"... ;) :D

Along the line of the lubricant... what is everyone running? and whats the best? Ive been running HOWES "diesel treat conditioner and anti-gel" since I bought the truck.

Stanidine is what I've run but NWBombers got together and bought a 55 gallon drum of amaligimated (sp) Having the drum sent to Seattle and everything put together the cost was around 60. 00 for 5 gallons.
