After readinf the article in the recent issue of TDR, I'm looking for a little more info on the kill switch.

-Is there a certain kind of switch to use? Rocker switch or button?

-How exactly do you operate it... push in the clutch, flip the switch, and start it up? What happens when you turn the switch off while the truck is running, does it kill the engine?

-Anyone know exactly which wire it is on an '02 with manual trans?

Thanks

I am failry sure that a momentary switch can be used. I believe the circuit is only needed when the key is turned to the start position.

Installed mine ah couple weeks ago. 02 6spd. went to Radio Shack got a automotive round approx. 1/2 in. round rocker panel flush mount switch. There is a wire going in coming out of the clutch pedal position switch inside the cab at the top of the pedal arm. I tapped into the hot one ran the wires through the kick panel down the door sill under the carpet of the seat. And mounted the switch on the drivers seat mounting bracket right side just had to inlarge one of the existing holes. You could flip switch when running no problem. It just interrupts the pps. My problem is getting in trying to start the truck. oops forgot to flip switch back on. Got a Viper alarm and brake pedal lock. Looking into LOJACK with the autopage.

I just found the jumper on my 2001. 5. There is a bracket that holds the main wire connectors in the area where the clutch peddle would be. This bracket is screwed to the firewall with two screws. The jumper was mounted in front of the large connector on this bracket. SNOKING

Just remember, Lojack is only effective in communities where the local police have the lojack technology. If you live or travel somewhere that the cops don't have lojack, you're SOL. There are other systems like Guidepoint, http://guidepointsystems.com/index.shtml that are GPS based and don't require the police to have anything because Guidepoint will call the police for you and tell them where it is. You can even track it yourself on the internet.
