Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) On more Westach Fuel Install question

Somewhere I read what thread sealant was being used for the fuel pressure sender, but I can't find it now. I really hesitate to use teflon tape like the instructions say, especially post filter. Right now I'm not using any sealant, and its not leaking, but for peace of mind I'd like to put something there.

I'll give them a try - thanks. I actually looked at Permatex, but it didn't say it was diesel safe so I was a little hesitant to try it. Never thought of using anti-seize, but thats a great idea too. I think I even have some in the garage.

Vic... I installed my Westach fuel gauge about a year and a half ago, using the special banjo bolts from Geno's... I didn't use any sealant or tape and it hasn't dripped a bit since. Remember, this is a low pressure line. If yours isn't leaking, I'd just leave it alone...

I have ten thousand miles on my install without any sealers of any king. I used the new washer/seals that came with my new banjo bolts.

go to your local plumbing or hardware store. There's a blue gunk made for sealing the threads of the connections on home heating oil tanks (same as diesel)... use that.

cheap, messy,. . but it's diesel proof.

I put everything together on mine without sealant and later found about half the connections were leaking. I pulled those back apart and used tfe paste (should be found at any plumbing store) and haven't had any more leaks. That was 6 months and 6,000 miles ago. I was concerned about using teflon tape as well so I spoke with a professional serivce station repairman and he recommended the tfe paste.

I used GASOILA, which is used for sealing diesel and gasoline lines in tank fields. 35k and no leaks. You can find it at your local petroleum equipment supply houses. Probaby the same stuff heating contractors use for sealing heating oil tank fittings.
