BTW, the washer-tab fix was very straight fwd to accomplish & everything was an easy job except for that stupid fan blade nut. (had to break out the Copenhagen soaked in Commemorativa for that one to remain calm #ad

Cost was:
a seal kit pn3804899,
timing cover gasket pn3918673
total $58 delivered to my door, courtesy of Cummins Rky Mtn.

For me, after I got my stuck fan blade nut free, it was all down hill from there #ad

My only thoughts were this. W/ the timing cover off, replacing the crankshaft seal was a snap. I don't see how one could change that seal easily w/ the timing cover in place though. W/ very little (swinging a hammer) room between it & the radiator. And I'm not sure how one could press it in place from that position.

I'm very curious how mechanics are doing the crankshaft seal w/ the timing cover still in place? I Just gotta know this!

Hey Mike, how's it going? Glad to hear you have piece of mind now that the KDP is contained. I agree with you in that once you get the cooling fan off it's all pretty easy to do. To replace the seal with the cover on I'd pull the radiator out for more room to work.

When are you going to put a plate in? You wouldn't believe how stout my truck runs... it'll rip the tires loose in third gear, thanks to PIERS #ad

Hey R. ebel!
Been very busy down here w/ the horses & a myriad of fix it projects. Also Working on the zg1000 (CA trip coming up @ end of June).

Yep. Decided to go ahead w/ the plate even though it has not been recommended to do so (due to the GV unit). In anticipation of even "normal" driveline problems like clutch (don't know how many miles are on this unit etc) I will have to wait until July so I have the necessary capital for these potential problems. I would hate to have all that power & NOT be able to harness it!Already ID'ed a good shop that could do GV or clutch work etc if needed.

Thats my target & I can't hardly wait, especially since I just recently found the truck's true stock performing baseline!
