Onan 2500 LP generator won't start

We just purchased a 2005 Lance 1191 Max with the Onan 2500 LP generator installed. I went to start it for the first time and it acts like it is starved for fuel. It starts enough to kick the starter out, then quits. I switched propane tanks (both full), bled the lines to the stove where it works fine. Tried again, no luck, samething. I let it sit for an hour letting LP work its way to the generator is it wasn't already. Nope, samething. When it tries to start, it smells like burned LP but just won't run. The unit is 1 1/2mos. old.



Any ideas?

Had the same thing happen on mine. There is a vent tube on the carb it runs up the middle of the unit and comes out under the gen 1/4 rubber hose it has a plug in it like dirt or a small bug made a nest in it you need to blow it out or suck it out. found this out from an onan tech,

try turning the motor over and blowing in to the tube or sucking on the tube

I'll check that out, it was discouraging to say the least for a brand new unit to give issues already. If that is the cause, there'll be a screen attached to that open end! Thanks.

Follow up; I got the generator running and this is what I did: I checked the open end of the vent, which looked clear, but upon shoving a #10 wire up it, outcame some cobwebs. Not much but some. I can hardly see where the vent connects to the regulator let alone get to it to take the hose off to blow it out. I tried starting it but it still acted the same so I tried holding the choke closed and it took off. Now it could be just coincidence that it took that long for the LP to get there before it would run. The cobwebs could have been the issue so I'll see what happens the next time. In the meantime, that vent hose is going to get some nylon window screen tie-wrapped over the end to prevent any more problems. Thanks for the tip!
