one door lock no work

the passenger side rear door lock does not work when the lock button is pushed to lock or unlock. The key fob will not work it either, but when the truck hits fifteen miles an hour it will lock. I have tried moving the child lock feture to see if that was the culprit, but that did nothing to help.



Where should I start looking?

have you checked the batteries? Reason being that voltage is higher with engine RPM. Also, might be a weak solenoid for that lock.

I put the tach at 1500 and hit the door locks and it locked slowly. I will check the batteries and clean them tonight. If that is not the culprit I will check the selenoid, but that will have to wait a week until I finish moving into the new house. Thanks for the help

It is one piece Latch and lock assy. I have replaced quite a few easy job to do. If I remember right it retails for about $50.

Thanks for the info Bob, I am sure I will be making that purchase because it was not the batteries. I checked them and cleaned the terminals although they were pretty clean besides a little dust.

Wiring in the flexi conduit thingy was my culprit. I don't have them programed to lock automatically, but the remote was only locking and unlocking 3 doors. A wire fatigued and broke. There's a thread about it in here someplace.

It was inside the flexi corrugated looking rubberconduit in the doorjamb. Coincidence that it's the door my 8 year old uses 98% of the time-- I doubt it. It was sort of strange though, it looked like a wire cutter had just snipped it.

Strip, solder, and heat shrink fixed it easily though.

It must not be a coincidence because the door in question is the door my kid uses also. Those darn kids always find a way to break things then blame it on the dog. :-laf



I will check the wiring and report back on the findings. If it is the wires it must not be cut all the way through because it still works at higher RPM's.

I finally found time to check the wires in the door and trouble shoot the problem. There were three broken wires and three that were ready to break. I put some new wire in there and made them longer. Time will tell if the extra length makes a difference or not.
