According to Ford's very accurate advertising( ). It takes two Dodges to do the work of one Ford. They claim the same about the gm trucks also.

I was thinking(scary thought). They need those two Dodges for when the 6. 0 breaks down on the side of the road. One to clean up the scrap. The other to deliver the goods.

I don't mean to bash ford trucks (ya i do). But just had to put two and two together. :D

ford is right. one dodge to pull the trailer the ford will be on the other dodge to pull the trailer the ford used to be hooked to :-laf :D

I hate Ford's commercials, advertisements, and brochures. They make all kinds of hoopla about nothing. Case in point, maximum payload for the '05 SD is only 600 lbs more than Dodge. Big deal.

Have any of you looked at their '05 SD brochures? What a joke. They claim "The 6. 0l PSD is the longest lasting diesel engine". In fine print it says "Based on vehicles in operation June 1994-current. Hmmm. The 6. 0l has been around for ten years and they still don't have it running right. :-laf :-laf Their '05 SD Commercial Truck brochure further claims that the 6. 0l has a life-to-overhaul of 250,000 miles. :-laf :-laf

I'm having trouble locating this... can you post a link?

Nevermind, found it here.

I swear every night I must see half a dozen ford commercials. Most of them related to the puper dity trucks. Isn't there a law out on false advertising?

The sad part is there are thousands of people watching that and believing everything they see as the only truth.

Okay, well I watched it. The only thing that particularly impressed me was the front substructure of the new F-150. I agreed with the point that the Ram's body panel to which the door hinge bolts flexes significantly when you push on the door at the stop.

Why is the F-150 frame shaped like an ellipse? It does look impressive. They comment that only the front of the frame is hydroformed. What's done on the remainder?

I'm so sick of the Ford bed bolt thing. What about the fact that the bolts are so long? Seems to me that longer bolts are just more prone to bending. They don't look any thicker than the Dodge bolts. Are they even grade 8 (they kinda look like aluminum).

I like the outboard shocks and 3" leaf springs on the F-150.

What the heck is "quiet steel"?

I actually like the new F-150. I think Ford did a great job with it. If I were forced to buy a modern 1/2 ton pickup, I'd probably buy it over the offerings from the other manufacturers.

That is if you count all of the miles they spend being towed back to the dealer after the turbo lets go a million times

I saw that Ford commercial with the two lonely-looking Dodge trucks that supposedly couldn't do the work of the one mighty Ford (of course the hood was closed and you couldn't see that the Ford didn't have a real engine in it). I think it was on Comedy Central :D .

Thanks guys----I've got to head out to deliver a tractor to Phoenix in my wimpy little Dodge this morning and I needed a good laugh before I leave. I sure hope my wimpy little Dodge can get this tractor there OK :-laf .

Maybe I should post an update when I get back so you all don't worry about me  .

You guys are the best!

Ya I love those bed bolts myself too. I geuss I've never lost a bed do too bolts. Must be a problem for the oval crowd. If anything the sheet metal will tear up around the bolts. Maybe they should take care of there flimmsy bed that warps when they put a load on it.

Well if a Dodge can do a million miles of hard work. With my sketchty calculations you would have to buy 4 fords with the 6. 0 motors.

Only reason I'm bashing ford is. They are false advertising and screwing customers to make a buck. They make every thing look so perfect in there little adds on t. v. Kinda makes me sick when Alan Jackson and Toby Kieth gets in there with there good boy bad boy image.

Well thats about all for now. I have to go to the bath room and take a ford. :D

they have all done a fair share of bs advertiseing. case in point. back in 92, dodge compared its 350 against a 350 ford and a 3500 chevy. the trucks were pulling identical trailers, loaded to 5k lbs . they run them down a short track{1/4} mile i believe. dodge edges the chevy out by a small margin, the ford a little more. the ford had a n/a 7. 3 diesel, the chevy had its new 6. 5 turbo the dodge a 5. 9 cummins. average man reads this and says hey, that dodge can out run both the ford and chevy diesel,so if i want a fast diesel thats the way to go! never mind the fact that he never read that ity bity fine print in the middle of all that other fine print ,saying the dodge has a auto transmission in it and the others are running manuals. . same thing with that 250 k mile rebuild crap, dodge started that one to,i dont buy into that one one bit. in fact i would be ashamed if one of my diesels had to be rebuilt at around 250k,no matter what the brand, and i have owned all three. . with reasonable care, gas engines will hit 250k with little or no probs, even in a working enviroment!

I get a kick out of the FORD commercial running down here now that says FOrd Super Duty $589 cheaper than a Dodge then in small letters at the bottom it says Ford rebate $750 and no rebate on the Dodge. Ah Dodge has a $2500 rebate which makes it almost two grand cheaper on list price.

How do you think Henry ford got his company where it is today

By lying and stealing other peoples ideas perfect example back in the 40s he stole the 3 point hitch idea from fergeson for his tractors.

Also either that guy in that video is either on crack or they're paying him an awefull lot to lie :-laf

Well wonder how Dodge got started into making trucks? Could it be because he screwed the Dodge brothers who were building engines and trannies for Henry.

Was it really henry that came up with the idea of the assembly line? Or was it Thomas a guy working for henry.

Both very good questions you know Ford will never tell you the truth ;)

offered it a year earlier. john deere 1932. ji case around 1935. in the late 20,s ferguson added a 3rd connecting point, the upper center one, this was done on paper, and latter tested on various tractors. in 1936 he designed a tractor with this new system, it was called the type a. david brown produced the tractor for him. after a short period of time and a series of disagrements between brown and ferguson ,not to mention the tractors wouldnt sell do to being overpriced, the two split ways. shortly afterwards, ferguson caught wind of fords interest to get back into tractor production market. ferguson made contact with ford and arranged a meeting,at the meeting ferguson explained his idea to ford, and that he would like to see it mass produced on a low budget tractor, ford agreed, and designed a tractor to fit the bill. that tractor was the 9n,it sold very well. the 9n sold well, however there was no profit to be made by ford on the 9n for many years,in the late 1940,s the hand shake agreement between ford and ferguson was terminated by ford the 2nd. the ferguson system was patented before its installation on the first 9n... .
