Hey rear shocks help give the F-150 exceptional ride and handling.

Anyone know where I can get some of these things called shocks for my truck?

I swear every night I must see half a dozen ford commercials. Most of them related to the puper dity trucks. Isn't there a law out on false advertising?

:--) If there were - then there would be no - and I mean NO - Political Campaigns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something else that's wrong with that "truth" ad occurred to me last week. They make a big deal about the lower control arms being so much bigger on the Ford than on the other trucks. Well, THEY HAVE TO BE, THEY'RE ALUMINUM! Now, I'm all for aluminum parts, but aluminum is not nearly as strong as steel, so any parts made from aluminum to replace a steel part must, by definition, be significantly larger. Look at the difference between steel and aluminum wheels if you need proof. I question whether those Ford arms are any stronger than the steel ones used on Dodge and Chevy...

If you read the test of the 05 F350 in four wheeler a couple months ago they said that the "huge" control arms were a PITA because they hang so low that the catch on everything. The test truck's control arms were all scraped up and bashed in after a little off road course. No other truck (including the dodge) had that problem. I thought it was pretty funny!

The F-150 has an aluminum hood!

I have in my hands right now a company brochure from Alcoa. It says:

"Alcoa worked with Ford to help engineer and design a solution where Alcoa supplies the aluminum sheet used for the hoods of the new F-150 - the widest-width aluminum closure produced in the North American automobile market... "

I do think that the new F-150 is a heck of a truck. Now if only they'd start making more body panels from aluminum (I like aluminum).

It also says,

"Alcoa's automotive products featured on Ford trucks include closures panels, wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems, and aluminum wheels. "

Wouldn't those aluminum body parts cause galvanic corrosion problems?

They seem to do fine on Ferraris, Audis, and Land Rovers. Certainly it's not without problems, but neither is steel.

Well, I admit that Ford likes to beat there own chest quite a bit in thier commercials but what about Chevy? I absolutly LOVE the "stump pulling" crap they put out. Yes sir, there real proud of that huge V8 they are making. Funny thing is though, lets be honest here... . do you really think that you're going to pull out a tree stump? Power is not the issue here... it's traction! Chevy, Ford or Dodge... . 100HP or 1000... . you're going to spin your tires LONG BEFORE you run out of power... .

I'd rather watch Ford commericals all day long before I'd watch another 10 seconds of Chevy's crap.

The thing I don't like about GM commercials is the way they imply that if you don't drive a GM then you're a bad person. Example: the Saturn commercial where the guy talks about how he wants to be a good, respected father just like his father; that's why he bought a Saturn. So if I don't buy a Saturn I'm a bad father?

Or how about the GMC commercial where they say "if an M1 tank can have an Allison automatic transmission, then why not your truck?" Give me a break. The M1 also has a gas turbine engine - should my truck have one of those too? Why stop there - maybe my truck should have a 120mm cannon on it too!

Worst of all are the Onstar commercials. Another case of GM telling you you're a bad person who doesn't care about the safety of others if you don't buy their Onstar system. If your car doesn't have Onstar and anything bad happens you risk spontaneous decapitation, your wife leaving you, and dogs will piddle on your shoes. I resent that.

So GM basically tells us we're bad people for not buying their products. Ford tells us everyone else's stuff is complete garbage and they're the only ones worth buying because they've got the most power, most torque, last the longest, tow the most, are the quietest, and will make the Swedish Bikini Towing Team fall all over you. And Dodge tells us if we want to impress our neighbors and friends we should buy their product. Pick your poison!

-Ryan :)

Yea- Dodge is guilty too- just not as bad as the other two! The HEMI ads are a bit much! I have the HEMI and while it's OK- it ain't all that and a bag of chips! :)

As far as Hemis go, Jeep was the first company to put a hemi engine in a truck. :-laf In 1962, J-trucks and Wagoneers came out with the fire-breathing 140HP Tornado 230 6-cyl overhead cam engine, with hemispherical combustion chambers :)

remember the old ford commercials? "The best never rest" written in Hot Pink? Or how about, have you driven a ford lately? Gm used the heartbeat of america and like a rock. what were dodges, I dont remember. I know not they have the "grab life by the horns" and the stupid "mayor of truckville".

I only wish dodge had a nice logo. The blue oval guys and bowtie guys have one. Ours is a ram. that cool for a ram truck, but what about my power wagon? I aint putting a ram on it. In fact, I dont even like the ram logo.

But I dont care if other people see the false ford/chev ads and go buy one. It dont make a diff to me. then at least I know for a fact that my truck is better than theirs. More power to them. they are keeping dealer employees in the shop in business.

A logo?

We don't need any catchy phrases or gimmicks. Only desperate manufactures need that.

Call it what it is

Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Unlike

Ford Powerstroke. Makes it sound like frd builds the engine too me. Funny Cummins has a longer POWER stroke.

Chevy DuraMax. Sounds like you can run it wide open for a million miles. Sounds like it has stronger parts than a cummins. But I wouldn't count on it.

But yet they label there transmission Alison. Couldn't they have called it some thing else? Like Tankhauler 1000.

Chebby should have called it the Izuzu aluminum headed turbo diesel.

Maybe a phrase that may work for is "We Git R Done".

I agree, but when I see how half the people with dodge trucks have "if you cant dodge it, ram it" or "rather be cummin than strokin" or other stuff like that, it seems as though maybe we do need one.

Call it what it is Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel.

thats great for a cummins, but like I said, that aint gonna fly on my power wagon. I am talking about a dodge logo, not a cummins one. the cummins "C" is a nice logo.

But yet they label there transmission Alison.

It is an allison. Maybe they are more proud of having an allison trans than an isuzu engine? I would be.

Chebby should have called it the Izuzu aluminum headed turbo diesel.

I agree with this completley. and the ford should be called "Super Doody"

Maybe a phrase that may work for is "We Git R Done".

Not for me it wont.

maybe its the tow/haul mode that makes them better. wait a minute, what happen if you shift out of OD. i will admit, i like the idea of a brake controller right in the dash. then again how much does it cost to fix. i once read about a PSD that reached over 400k. thats amazing. that has to be a record :D . it was probably 3 engines later :-laf
