can an EGT guauge be wired through some sort of selector switch so I can monitor pre and post turbo with one guage?

I know I can get a dual guage but that's not what I want. picky aren't I ?

yes

Yes you can... . I did it for awhile just for comparsions and finally just went to pre-turbo... . I can't remember the name if the switch, however, I got it a Radio shack. . It's single pole toggle which is double legged. . has 6-connectors on the bottom... It gets tricky, when you wire as each probe will have seperate wires going to each side of switch and back to gauage... . then all you do is switch toggle and the EGT gauage will either read pre or post turbo depending on what position the toggle switch is on ... . Check archives, as someone once posted a diagram on how to wire... . Maybe someone else will chime in.

I think it can be done.

I put my switch next to the gauge. Depending on whether the wire to your gauge is thermocouple extension wire or copper, you may use slightly different methods.

Either way, use a DPDT switch. Make sure all the connections are tight. If you are using thermocouple extension wire, I recommend against soldering the wires.

Many people use a standard switch, like those found at Radio Shack, to switch between thermocouple senders. If you do it that way you will introduce some error in the temperature reading because every connection to the switch and even the switch contacts will act as another thermocouple. The correct way to switch thermo couples is to use a switch designed to preserve the signal accuracy.

One source I found was Westach. They have a two position switch, TSO 245 19EDPP, that will work.

1 guage / multiple sources

15w40 post says it all and when (maybe it should be if) I can afford it, the 6 position switch hooked to temp sending units on Front Diff, Engine Oil, transmission, X-Case and Rear Diff would be just right.
