I just changed out my lift pump last night. For anyone who is going to do this, be sure to remove the fuel filter, it makes the job MUCH easier. The pump I put in came from Cummins for ~$135. 00. My old pump read about 5 psi at idle, I did not do any checking on the road. The real problem was that the pump took for ever to refill the filter housing after a filter change and the pump sounded like a box of rocks. After I changed out the pump I took the old one apart. Clean as a whistle! no wear no nothing. The motor turns very stiff and with a ratchet action which could be from being a PM motor. Anyone out there have a dead pump that they took apart and found the actual pump to be bad?
