JDiepstra... you really need to sit back down. You're talking out your ***.

Really BigEasy? I see your post contains nothing of substance at all. All you did was waste the time of everyone who read it. If you disagree with me that Randy left out a whole bunch of extra pay, prove me wrong rather than just being obnoxious. Thanks.

Oh, and BigEasy, I see you are a part of a union. Thanks for helping to send many of our good jobs overseas and putting many great American companies in major financial troube, or out of business all together. If I were you, I'd start looking for a new job too.

You're proving my point. How exactly has being a Teamster sent a job overseas? I'm a truck driver... nobody in another country can do my job here. If anything, the Teamsters are SAVING American jobs by fighting to keep unsafe Mexican trucks off American highways.

And as of Wednesday, I will no longer be a Teamster, I'm going to Texas to work in BigOil... that oughta make you proud!

You are the uninformed, ignorant, obnoxious instigator... not me.

As an Infantryman I was never paid extra for marching, even when it was cold, and or in the rain, and I'm not even going to mention in the hot Sun, even when I thought that a less than useful occupation, just got you from one undesirable spot to another, and even loaded down with packs and what not, what did they do that for, trying to keep you firmly planted to the road or ground, were they expecting you to levitate? So many questions, so few answers. I must add, I did receive a Medical Repatriation from the Tropics, (head intact though, well I believe so) I was then re-graded to A1 (NT) non tropical for you office type. See still A1, they will not let a good boy go, for that I'm eternally grateful to them. It is a pleasure to serve one's country especially when they are needing you, rather than just feeding you as it is in Peacetime.

Well, the rediculous wages and benifits given to the unskilled workers at the Big Three are a part of a union. Can you really not see that these companies are in major trouble, losing tons of money, making huge lay-off's, and sending everything they can overseas?

Actually, There seem to be quite a few extras. Plese look here. What is combat pay, and how much is it? - Yahoo! Answers

At the end of the day, how much is it worth to be dead? I have trouble calculating that.

I spent 4 Years in the USAF and am proud to have served. I do not begrudge those in harms way being paid more.

Dieselnut59 - Is three an Anti Fairtax site? It seems like a good idea, I just would like to be able to look at both sides and make my deciision based on pros and cons.

Don't let the UAW taint your view of all unions...

A bigger problem than the unions to the big three is OUR (CONSUMERS) fault! When it comes to our TRANSPORTATION everybody wants bigger, better, faster, more!!! Too many people's identity is in what they drive, where they live, and what they do... not in WHO THEY ARE.

THAT, my friends, is the root of America's decline.

I am grateful to those of you who serve in the military. I actually talked to a recruiter while getting some parts and he said they would not take me due to health issues. I know several who have served this country for various reasons and I understand why they have the differant pay "bonuses" if you will for them.

JD, why should they be paying taxes, isn't that a throwback to the days of the mining town. Live in the military house, shop in their stores etc, and now you want them to kick in more to pay their own wage? I probably shouldn't tell you then that some don't pay property taxes either, should I.

Now the "Puddle Pirates" on the other hand:D just jokin.

Dive Pay...

Gotta throw my $0. 02 in here. First of all, thanks for both your support and for your tax dollars.

I'm a Navy Diver who could work for OMI right now making six figures. My re-enlistment will end in 2 years. The pays I receive over and above a regular sailor are quite substantial.

Keep in mind the Navy has invested a large sum of money training me to do what I do and, I have a choice as to whether I stay in (re-enlist for 3-6 years) or get out and make more money - SUBSTANTIALLY more money - almost double my currrent pay.

So I could suck up all this training for free and walk in 4 years, or the Navy could make it worth my while, retaining me with higher pays for more critical skills needed. See, not everyone can be a pilot - I can't - not smart enough! Not everyone can be a Navy Diver either, thus there's the regular service (who, mind you are the backbone of the military; folks who work their a**es off 14-18 hours a day) and there are specialized service members, like pilots, who are compensated for their skills and extra training.

Companies in the civilian sector that send their employees to specialized training don't pay them more? Shame... keep this extra military pay on the DL, we don't want everyone joining up all at once... ;)
