The friend looking at the truck from Dave Smith Dodge was told that the truck he is looking at also doesn't have Limited Slip in the rear axel. They told him that they could install it for the same $ that Dodge charges on the sticker. What do you guys think about DEALER installed standard LSD? Let me know... Chris

So far mine has spun both tires every time I've needed it too, but then again if it was my personal choice I'd opt to get away from the stealer.

Go find a nice after market limited slip and have it installed at a reputable place. Some are even easy enough to do yourself.

How much is the dealers price to do this anyways?

limited slip

If you are changing carriers, open carrier out and limited slip in,

it takes some specialized tools and knowledge. It is not a hard

job and shouldn't cause any problems for someone experienced

with gear work. Since it is a new truck getting the gears on the

same contact isn't as critical as with used gears. It is critical that

the backlash and contact patterns be within acceptable limits.

Since the pinion depth doesn't change the only variable is the

backlash, if it is measured before removal and is set at the same

measurement after installation there shouldn't be any problem

with the dealer doing the job.
