5th wheel vs Gooseneck

Slide-in Campers

I guess you could call it that... ...

Friend calls me tonight and asks how much I would charge to go to Memphis and haul 2 cars back (phurd ranger & a camaro) was my first response because I've never done anything like this before.

After trying to think of a price for a while it dawned on me I would probably be over my weight limit with both vehicles? :( and I definately don't want DOT after me :(

The camaro is supposedly driveable and I'm thinking of having them try to drive it back and if it just won't make it then put it on the trailer.

The longest trailer I have access to is 25FT will this be long enough if the ranger is a reg. cab shortbed? The trailer is a HEAVY DUTY trailer tandem axle tandem TIRE. The plate on the neck says 9K lbs GVW.

I have good brakes and a good brake controler and the trailer I would be taking has VERY good brakes. And with my BOMBs I don't think I'd have any trouble hauling the load, just need plenty of room to stop.

So what are your thoughts and comments on this from you guys that tow a lot?

Here is a picture of the trailer I would be taking, after looking at this picture again it looks like the camaro is either getting driven or they will be getting someone else to haul it because that's the longest trailer I can get.

Dollar and 25 cents per mile, and make 2 trips. Even if you only charged 75 cents per mile you can stack some cash in your pocket. Don't get silly and tear your truck up doing it, just drag the cars and make some money.

Get a shorter tag trailer for the Camaro and chop up the ranger and throw it in the back. :D (then offer a "cut" rate)

Bethpage to Memphis?

Two trips.

The DOT could have a field day with over weight and driving with the wrong class of license. Not mentioning that you would need a bigger trailer (Unless you built a rack on that trailer to put the second one over the gooseneck).

The DOT fines are aimed at truck companies and tend to run in the thousands.

My two cents.

Like LSMITH said, $1. 25 per mile, if someone does not like that tell them to go out and spend $50k plus for their own tow rig !!!:D :p
