Here's a video of a big inline 8 that had title to World's Largest Engine for 3 decades. Pretty cool sound effects and would be something to see! YouTube - The big Dieselhouse engine, starting and stopping.

It was the largest engine until the 1960, it remained in service until 2004. It's still operational and gets fired up a couple times a month.

About 40 years ago, my uncle was a big shot in the Milwaukee business community. He got me a tour of the Nordberg engine factory where they made engines up to 10,000 HP. You could drop a 50cent piece through the oil holes on the crankshaft. Even in those days, photos were strictly forbidden. Sad to say, both my uncle's business (Milwaukee Forge) and Nordberg are long gone.
