The One Touch up/down windows in my wife's Chrysler 300 are beginning to fail to operate. They appear to be a lot like the one touch in my Laramie so I wonder if someone on here can give me an idea where to start looking for the problem.

I can't find anthing about them in the service manual.

I guess that might be the problem although it only has about 30K and 2 1/2 years on it. I wonder where I might find some more detailed guidance?

I'm back. I decided to see what might be on some other sites, particularly 300C forums. I found a few references to one touch window problems with solutions as arcane as banging your palm against the window when raising to beating your fist against the door.

I did find one entry that sounded reasonable. Here it is, pasted from that site

"Auto up can be re-set by cycling the window through it's full range three times. Turn the car off, then back on again and express up/down should have re-set. "

I went out to the car and gave it a try. It worked!! At least it seemed to work on the passenger side. The drivers side worked down but not up. I kept fiddling with it for a few minutes and it starting working too.

One comment that might be helpful is to be sure to use the windows regularly to help keep the functioning. Maybe it's like our smoke brakes;).

You might also want to try dismantling the door and lubricating the window mechanism and sliders. I believe these systems know when to turn off the motor by the amount of resistance it encounters. If the mechanism is sticky, it can cause the auto-down (or up) to stop suddenly as it mistakes extra friction in the mechanism for the stopping position.

This would explain the reason it "fades" over time as opposed to just suddenly not working.

In my case, it was the automatic up/down function that wasn't working. The windows went up and down fine by holding the switch. After you use the automatic ones for a while, you get spoiled .

That's exactly my point: the manual up/down continues to work fine, but the automatic stops working right after awhile. The areas of track where resistance is high enough to trip the sensor that says "I'm at the top/bottom of travel - stop sending juice to the motor" is sensitive, and cuts out the motor prematurely.

Use the manual, and you keep power to the motor despite the increase in current draw through the rough patches.

Anyway, glad yours is all fixed up.
