I recently swapped out a bad VP44 for new one, and now the truck runs very rough (like a consistent miss/light knock), and has lots of white smoke until the engine warms up. Then the smoke goes away, but the roughness remains. I know it is not a head gasket issue, because I have a block tester that says it's good, I am not loosing coolant, and the smoke most definately smells like pure fuel, not coolant. Also, I have NO codes whatsoever on the engine side or truck side (as scanned by a DRBIII scanner). Can the keyway make the timing off without throwing a code? Would a fouled injector be possible? They are Jammer 5's from City Diesel. I know they worked fine before the swap, but could debris on the line or something that I may not have noticed be the issue? I don't know what could cause these symptoms in this particular order, without throwing a code. The pump is not tapped, and there is good fuel pressure to it at all times. It is brand new from Industrial Injection. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Skyler
On a side note, any ideas for a p-pump conversion? This is the 3rd pump, and I'm really getting tired of swapping them out at $1k+ a pop.
