Ok I got an electrical problem somewhere. My heater only works on high, and no, its not the switch. My wind shield wipers only work on Lo and High, but none of the delays work. and my head lights don't flash when you pull back on the turn signal switch. BUT if the running lights are on (but no head lights) they will flash. Any ideas or solutions??? Any info will help.

Your heater "only works on high" meaning its constantly running on high, or the fan will only turn on if the setting is on high?

As far as the wipers, I've seen that alot where you get a bunch of dead spots on the selector, My Ramcharger does that. I'm gonna guess that a good cleaning of the contacts would help.

The headlight thing... is rather interesting... give me a bit to think about that. Pete or Jimmy, feel free to jump in also.

Yes. It only works in the high position. As for the wind shield wipers i thought the same thing. So i replaced the whole turn signal unit but it still does the same thing. I am so lost. I had the entire wiring harness out to do some "extensive body work" and it has not worked the same since.

My guess is a bad ground. Did you hook all the grounds back under the dash? And the ones on the firewall, core support and to the engine?

Depends on what part of the harness you had out.

Lets see. I had the ENTIRE wiring harness out. Every wire in the truck was removed. all the grounds under the hood are hooked up, and I know the gauges are grounded because I had to do that after I drove it a little. I'm not sure what other grounds there are. what i need i guess is a wring diagram of all the wires under the dash.

The wipers sound like you should check the wiper motor and attached relay. That's exactly what the motor on my 85 did right before it quit altogether. The switching contacts were worn out inside the motor. Do they park cleanly? What year electrical system are you using? Modified 78 or other?

There is something about that switch for the fan that would explain that... I forget how it works though. The switch has a real goofy setup. Its not what you'd think as in power in, and then 4 terminals, one for each speed. As I recall, any time there is power to the switch, the fan is running. Your "power in" terminal on the switch is also wired right to the fan. The vent selector is what cuts power to it entirely. position 2 (second lowest) has its own terminal. Position 3, I believe, also has its own terminal. Then for high, the way it works is actually the position 2 and 3 terminals are powered, and theres no actual terminal for high. Because of this setup, normally you have half the switch working, and the other half doesn't. Like per say pos. 3-4 work, but not 1-2. My guess, though, would be that the power wire to the switch is on the wrong terminal. I may not be 100% on the wiring, but I know it's something goofy like that. I had to hotwire my Ramcharger switch to get heat last winter. I hope this helps somewhat. Good luck.
