Another report on this from CNN:

<A target="blank" href="http://money. cnn.com/2006/09/20/news/companies/suit_automakers. reut/index.htm?postversion=2006092013">CNN Report: California Sues Automakers</a>

This is nothing but the automotive equivalent of the lawsuits against fast-food places for causing obesity. Just as no one makes you go to McDonald's and eat three Big Macs a day, there's no one holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to buy a car or truck. For a state that always has budget problems, they're throwing a lot of money away on this lawsuit.

Hope the auto makers get togeather, turn on and bankrupt California. I mean, so far in the red that they never see the light of day again. That'll teach them to keep their noses were they belong.

There is a very simple solution to this. Quit selling new vehicles to California. Keep all fuel burning vehicles from entering the state and see how far they get when there is no commerce, goods to sell or buy, and all the tourist go some where else.

Man all those Hippy tu fu farting tree huggers will be driven their Cadillac Escalade to the court room.

there is only one reason for this lawsuit... . MONEY! Komifornia needs more tax money, and figured they could get a free pass on this one, I hope they are completely wrong.

Heres my take on this, even though I believe the whole green house gasses global warming BS is just that, BS, they are sueing the wrong person. The car is an object. Without a driver, it does nothing. Technically they should be sueing you and I, scary thought aint it? Hopefully they dont try that too, and sue you and I for driving a polluting vehicle. BUT, why are they not sueing you and I? because you and I have nothing they want! They are going after the automakers to make a "quick" buck. Well, what a bunch of idiots! Way to go you liberal f-cktards! Lets burden our already struggling automakers with a frivaless lawsuit to make an extra buck on a wishy washy global warming THEORY!!!!!!!!!!!! They still can not prove that global warming even exists, yet the morons in charge in Cali think they know everything!

WHY, WHY, WHY, hasnt sanfran and the rest of the morons in that state fallen into the Ocean yet? Weres Lex Luther when ya need him and his nuke plan to dump cali into the ocean? :-laf

What an embarrassment to the people of California, of which I am one. How these types make it into office is beyond me. I sure hope the auto makers just decide on not selling their product in the state. Of course, since California has allowed the vehicles they are saying cause the problemm to be licensed in the first place, I would think a judge would say that they santioned the automakers and can now not sue them for what the state allowed to be licensed for operation.

The plain fact of the matter is; there are too many people in California. It's such a nice climate that all the bums who would live under a freeway overpass in any other state where weather is cold, move here and get into politics. They don't think correctly. Not at all!!

This doesn't surprise me at all. As a bay area resident, I hear all of the nutty ideas politicians come up with. Like wanting to charge for plastic bags at the grocery. Like wanting to charge to let people drive downtown. But the topper is a ballot measure on this November's ballot. The city of Berkeley has a ballot measure to impeach Bush and Cheney. Regardless of your politics, this is absurd. It is completely non-binding (its only a resolution) but is costing the taxpayers over $10,000 to put it on the ballot. They way the state spends money is ludicrous. I am hoping to get out of the state before they declare bankruptcy. I won't hold my breath.

If california gets anything from the lawsuit you can bet the automotive companys will pass the costs from lawsuit onto us the consumer. Even if they don't get any money from the auto makers any litigation costs will passed onto us. Lostyear is an extortionist...

WHy? That why I left. I wish the automotive guys would just shut down theie plant in Califonia, I know the economy can afford it. But ????

"Hello, Mexico? This is the rest of us in the USA. You know how you've been talking about getting California back? The time is now. We really want you to have it. "

"What? You don't want it back now? Why not?"

"Yes, they are a little loco there. Yes, I understand that if you take it back, you'll get sued for producing oil that made gas that powered those cars. "

"Earthquake? Yes, I guess we can all hope for one. Thanks for your time. We're going to call China now. They have a large foothold there anyway. "
