Pulled my first heavy load. I hauled a truck box off a straight truck. I estimated gross weight around 12,000 pounds plus. That thing seamed to have a lot of wind resistance. Running on flat road at 55 mph 900 degrees. Hit 1100 degrees up hills. But that was only 1/2 throttle. I think the 370's are just a wee bit too hot. Was able to hold the speeds going up hills.

Temp outside was around 85 degrees. I ran the a/c. Hottest the truck got was 190 degrees. The Hayden fan clutch sure makes that fan roar.

The 370 are marine injectors and just because they make good power in a shrimp boat does not make them a great injector for your truck. The 60+ hp bosch injectors would have been a much beter choice. But since you already have spent your money, you now are going to need more boost.

Jeff, 1100 really isn't that high for short periods of time. If you dig around on here, some guys run 1100-1200 all day with no problems. 900 cruising with 12000 pounds is pretty good too.

Do you have a boost elbow installed? If not, I'd put one in and adjust it to say 35 psi at full boost (assuming you have a stock turbo). That should help with the EGTs a bit.

You are just fine....

Jeff:

I have ran my truck at 1200 for a couple hour straight at a time, many times since I have had it. Even at the HP I am now, when I pull I find no need to use that last 1/3 of the throttle. The EGTs rise much slower with a load and under a good pull. Once you are on the edge of to high of EGTs you will see your coolant rising pretty good. If your coolant never rises the short push of heat is easily handled.

Can I get EGT's to go over 1300 under a pull? Only if I need to see if I can accelerate over the speed limit while climbing a hill.

Actually a good pull running 1000+ for a few hours is very good for the engine, especially if it has only been ran around empty for a few months.

That is PRE-turbo, not post. Where is your thermocouple? 900-100 PRE, is fine.

They're ok ... just need a bigger turbo. :D

After you get a bigger turbo, get some that have the holes enlarged by 20% or so. :--)

Good to hear from ya JJW.

Well now that I will be working again. Maybe I'll get a larger turbo housing. 4'' inch pipe.

Stock clutch held good up hill. Hope fully I can get one more year out of it.

I kinda forgot . I have 285/75 tires and 3. 54 rear. Makes the effort a little more.

She's a different beast with a load. The tone of the cummins sure gets really deep and throaty. Can feel the growling of the exhaust all threw out the truck. Turbo sounds like a 747 jet. Sure is cool! :D

Thermo coupler is pre turbo. Ya I know I could go higher with egt temps. But not totally trusting of pyro gauges. I didn't let it go much beyound 1100 degrees for that.
