Disconnected the turbo to drill and tap for my EGT probe, and I ended up poking a small hole in the rubber hose that connects the hard line on the turbo to the block.

Questions: Is it made of anything special? Seems almost like silicone, but if I can find a sutible replacement tomorrow like a piece of radiator hose or something would that be a bad idea until I can get a new one from the parts dept. ?

Is that hose under any pressure? The hole is very small so if it's not pressurized I could prolly get by with it until I can get a new one. I wouldn't think it is, as I believe it's just the oil drain for the turbo correct?

You are best off replacing it. Even if you just temporarily replace it with a heater hose. The heater hose will work for a while. But you are right, I think the drain hose ise is a silicone hose.

Oil will eat the heater hose. It would be best to order one from Cummins. The second gen trucks used a longer hose, so you could get one of them and cut off one end if you find that hose.

Thanks I was gonna check the local cummins shop monday.

I've got it all back together now though. When putting things back together I could actually see how close the two tubes were and there was enough hose to clamp the damaged end before teh hole, so no leaks :)
