Well, I slipped... decided that I really wanted to stay with some sort of stainless steel, so I bought a 30" MagnaFlow. It wasn't but $6 more (shipped) to my door than the Donaldson was locally. And everything I read indicated the Magnaflow was almost quiet and still straight-through, so I'll take the chance.

Someone bought my muffler off my setup (good) which is polished 304 stainless... and believe it or not, that little thing actually did quite a bit (probably a combination of it and the full tailpipe). Since I sold the muff, I took off everything from just rear of the cab back (extension pipe, muff, and tail pipe) so that I could be ready to ship when I got the payment... my neighbors probably hate me :-laf

Needless to say, while its cool to hear the turbo wind up and it chirp at each shift, I need earplugs to drive it in traffic...

Even though I’m going with a MagnaFlow, here are some of the “other” options that I looked at:

86561M = 28 inch

86127M = 34 inch

86131M = 44. 5 inch

86144M = 11. 5 inch

86189M = 28 inch

86408M = 44. 5 inch

86560M = 20 inch

201570N = 24 inch

20874A = 34. 4 inch

25833N = 28 inch (4”ID/4”OD)

M090544

M085171 = 41 inch (1800 CFM, 19#s, 8-12dB reduction…this one looked good)

M4490 = 44. 5 inch (I think??)

86131M = 44. 5 inch (this is the “open” 51 inch Donaldson…2000CFM)

86108M = 44. 5 inch (this is the “closed” or baffled 51 inch Donaldson…1600CFM)

MO101167 = 24 inch (1120CFM, 19#s, 12-18dB reduction)

MO85421 = 40 inch (1212CFM, 21#s, N/A dB)

Some of these are Nelson, some are Donaldson, some are Fleetguard numbers…all are center in/out on a round 7 to 10 inch body. I placed flow ratings where I found them…a quick call to your local supplier can get you the flow ratings of the others…

I have the 30" magna flow and just added another 20" magna flow ahead of it trying to quiet it down

But I'm almost stock, so it should do fine... anything will be better than the 16" that was on there...

Stock your probably ok. I ran around with the 30" magnaflow for a couple years but when I added a bigger turbo the exhaust got louder and then I added the second muffler

You guys with your big trucks scare me... :-laf

I hope it sounds good... I'm gaining almost a full inch (the whole way around ) of insulation and almost double in length...

I tried the 90544 on my 04. It was nice and quiet and no drone.

I switched to a 90535. ( 5" in and out X 51" ) It is a little bit louder but no drone

and has a better flow rate.

Hello,

I have an 06 megacab and have a couple of question in relation to the Donaldson, I am considering purchasing this muffler.

1. my stock muffler is not a straight in and out, it is offset, the outlet is probably 4 inches higher than the inlet. How have you delt with this? The
Donaldson is a straight thru design.

2. there is another object after the muffler, a resonator or something, does anyone know what that is.

Thanks in advance for any help.
