2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Opinions on emblem retrofit to 3rd generation

I have an 01 QC sport, silver in colour. The truck looks like its brand new.



I purchased the 3rd generation tailgate emblems:



DODGE 4x4

HEAVY DUTY



The tailgate doesn't have the plastic piece on it, the gate is all metal. I measured up a 3rd generation truck to see where the emblems should go. I have lined them up and they look pretty much the same as far as perportion to the 3rd generation truck when you stand back and look at it. It does look good when you stand back and look at it, but I'am having second thoughts about doing it. Do you guys think I should just leave it with the black 4X4 sticker the way it is or go ahead and put on the 3rd gen emblems ?.



Does putting the 3rd generation emblems make it look a bit cheesy, wanna be 3rd generation truck ? That's what's holding me back from putting them on.



Any opinions ???

I see trucks with later model badges on them to me it dosent look right, sometimes debadge all together looks good though JMO

I've thought about this too and finally concluded that if I'm going to take the emblems off to put different ones on, I would rather leave it de-badged altogether. That looks pretty smooth and doesn't give the old wanna-be look.

Debadged on a silver sport model looks really good.

I want the '04 style tailgate with Dodge and Heavy Duty on the left side and 4X4 on the right because I don't like the '05 and up ram shield in the middle. I once saw a black dually with all 3rd gen badges and didn't notice at first but a second look caught the difference.

I have the 04 tailgate emblems, the Dodge and the Heavy Duty aswell as the 4X4, just trying to decide to do it or not. I was all pumped to do at first but now I'am not so sure.



How did that black dually look ?



I did see a guy with a half ton with 3rd gen emblems and he put them all in the wrong spot, it looked like crap.

I put all the 04 badges on my 01, I think it looks good. I have gotten a few double takes and all the guys I know (CTD owners) think it looks good as well. If your gonna change all of them you will definately need a soft plastic scaper and a heat gun though... the doors took some work. It took me about an hour to do both doors. Take your time and it will pay off!

Use some dental floss to cut the emblem off and clean residue with adhesive remover.

I would do it. I like the look of the new emblems. I have some for my truck once I get the money to do body work and take all of the stuff that is on there now. If you think it looks good just do it. Who cares what everyone else thinks. It is your truck not theirs.

I de-badged the tailgate a while after I bought the truck. The doors still have their 2500/CTD emblems.



If I was to change anything now, I'd remove the door badges and put a single Cummins logo (i. e from a new RAM's front fender) on the tailgate, probably at the bottom right. No more.

if i had the badges i would put them on my truck, i think they look really good on the second gen trucks.
