Who is running the Toyo Open Country MT in either the 315/75/16 or 285/75/16? What are your opinions of the tires? Will the 315's fit the OEM alloy rims and do the rub? They will be going on a 2002 3500 4X4.

Thanks,

Doug Smith

I would like to know also. I have 315/75 BFG A/T slicks (only rub when I turn sharp at slow speed) and wanted to go with something different.

Thanks

On my 2001. 5 with Kore Recon/DT control arms i can get some rubbing with the moulded factory running boards+mud flaps(TOYO MT315 /75/16 on Motto Mt 700-16x8). No rubbing on the control arms but sometimes it can hit the mudflaps--just a hair. I ran without the flaps for a bit and the spray on the side of my truck was horrible,i can live with a little rubbing. TOYO'S sure are BEEFY,i can feel that there is a more aggressive tire on there compared to my old BFG'S 285/75/16 A/T,more noise---yes and i do notice that i have lost some power with the bigger tire, not much but a little especially with my 3:55 ratio. I had a chance to try them out in some deep snow out hunting and they clean out well, bite hard and are way better than my BFG'S. Over all i think they compliment my ride and can handle anything i throw at them,as well they sure do fill the wells up nice compared to the others i'v had. My 2-cents :D :D :D DW

I have a 98 2500 with nothing but a 2" leveling kit on the front end and the am running Toyo Open Country MT 315 75 16s and they are great! Very low highway noise for a MT. The very best part about these tires is that they are available with an "E" load rating!! I just pulled a 10,000 lb 5th wheel trailer 800 miles an was very impressed with how stable they were. they don't rub lock to lock, only when turning and articulating the suspension at the same time- then they rub just slightly on the corner of pinch weld at the bottom of the fender.

I haven't ran that size but I ran the toyos on a blazer and had Bfg ats that were siped from new and got 115k miles from the 285 bfs with a lot of gravel miles. best from the toyos was 40k same roads. mother inlaw has them on a blazer also have only 30k and are about shot also. I run toyo exclusivly on my cars but they do not hold up at all in my experience on anything 4X4.

Edit: you asked about the MT I was talking about AT. Just my . 02 I think the life of MT's would be even worse.

I have the 285/75/16's on my truck. I have the leveling kit, and never have rubbed. Don't even contemplate getting anything else. Only tire that I know of that will support 3740 pounds when aired to 80psi. I have a 10k pound 5er and accidentally pulled it when I purchased the trailer, I carted it off with only 35psi in the tires. It was a little squirrely, but made it to a station to fill up the tires. They'll dig you a hole to China if you want. I think they're the best tires on the market.

I just installed a Toyo M-55's 255. 85. 16 and with 6k and all kinds of coniditions they are the best tires I have ever had on any vehicle. They do make a 285 also but why would you want fat tires on snow and ice I will never know. .

Got the 315's, they do rub when getting close to full turn... . I will install the leveling kit and report back. They do look nice though.

With ice, it's a no brainer, low pressure bald tires have the best traction and stop quicker. I've been 4x4ing in the Western states since the early 70s and the wider tires give better traction in mud/snow/sand as long as the engine has the torque to move them and break them loose when needed.

I love the tires! Traction is much improved over the BFG MT I was running. These tires are pretty wide so they rub pretty bad with the wheels turned. I have the 2" leveling springs on the floor to be installed along with control arms from a 06 truck to see what the clearance is with them. I think new wheels may be in the picture to get them to work perfect though.

I have a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers 315's with a 2" leveling kit. The tires look dynamite on the truck !!! I was also shocked at how quiet they are.

I was originally was planning on getting the Toyo M/T's but all the dealers didn't have my size. That's why I ended up going with the Nitto's, which are apparently made by Toyo.

In the end I'am glad I ended up with the Nitto's.

Are the Nitto Grapplers E range? I thought they only came in D if you were running 16" wheels...
