This seems to be the popular way of service on the transmission. Can a guy do this himself by disconnecting the lines at the cooler, and running in neutral. Flushing the system with new fluid.

What are the pros and cons of doing this. I have always refreshed my fluid by changing filter and whatever came out of the pan. I guess a bit more will come out by loosening the valve body.

Anybody regularly get a flush?

On all the autos I've owned, that the only way I know to change the fluid. I do it at the shop I work at and there is a machine that takes it out and puts new fluid in right behind the old so ou don't run it dry. Not sure if you can do it without that. Good luck.

you can do the method you as you sa , but make sure to keep the transmission from going dry, Mine a double deep so I have four extra quarts even when it reads add. I add and etra quart over before I start, as your not going to foam pumping it out fast. i just drain mine twice through the double deep drain, that does get it all but it a big help.

my dad is a snap on dealer, and has thier newest trans kare system at the house for awhile, so i might be using it oh say this weekend for a proper transmission flush :D
