Spare Silencer Ring?

nv 5600 trans oil.

This weekend my 2000 3500 4x4 is getting th DTT treatment. I have on order the enlarged banjo bolts, and Edge Comp. Within the next month or so, I will have ordered DD2's and either a PDR 35 or 40. And, 4" exhaust and probably an AFE. Yep, I got gauges and an additional pusher pump yet to be installed. Looking at that combination, what kind of horsepower/torque will I be looking at? Oh, and I have chrome mud flap thingies too, that would add 5 hp, I'm guessing!!!:) :)

Thanks!

Robin

MTN gt, I havs the same yr,and setup as you(but a 2500) and got 426hp with dd3's and a 14cm turbo housing. If i were you'id get the HX40,wit that you should make 400 easliy, maybe a little more, with the 35 id expect to make 380-390 . You will be in serious EGT touble with te 35,the 40 will run much cooler.

Snowman, Hello!!!

I was talking to another TDR guy and he said "kinda" the opposite, however, I had told him I would be towing about 9k when I go Jeeping in Colorado. He said that the 40 could create egt probs at altitudes, although he likes the 40 as well. Most of the driving would be on the flatlands in Kansas (the land of blahs), the advertisements always say the land of oz. Anyway, I am respectful of the opinions of you guys with the know how and will hopefully get a lot more opinions before I decide. If you have more advice, I'm all ears!!

I think I’d agree with Snowman, but I’m curious about the idea that a HX40 would have troubles over a HX35 at any altitude. I think that Piers indicated that his modified HX40 is favored for towing over the HX50. I have about the same set-up that your aiming for. I set the Comp at 2/1 most of the time, towing and hauling included and my EGT stays below 1200 degrees up the longest steepest grades I’ve been on. Putting your foot in it with the Comp set at 5/5, well lets just say my pyro only reads to 1600 degrees and it gets there in a hurry. Except for my slight worry about spool-up on the HX40, that’s probably what I would go with if I had to do it again. A PDR HX40 that is.

MTNgt its your $$,run what you want ,but the 35 cannot keep EGTS managable with the comp and DD2's. Towing wise the 40 is a winner there too. The only place i can see the 40 having higher EGTS is cruising on the highway. This is normal of all bigger turbo's and the heavy throttle/towing EGT lowering more than makes up for it.

My cousin lived in Kansas for a while. Where he was working someone told him (before he got hired) that there was a girl behind every tree. He didn't find any trees. :)

Did they specify what kind of girl it was? Was it a girl cow or sheep? Personally, I prefer the 2 legged girls myself... ;)

And you have a river running through Wichita called the arKansas River, but when you cross the state line, it's call the Arkansas River.

Thats it... kick my while I'm down. But you forgot to mention that we pay some of the highest taxes in the country!!! When I retire, I am outa here!

I'd skip right over the HX35.

Go with the HX40... . it will last you longer as far as future upgrades go.

Also are you set on DDII's? If you have the HX40 it might be wise to consider the DDIII's (or equivelent) instead. Also before you pull the trigger on them talk to me if you don't mind a used set. I'm not looking to sell right this minute but by then I might.

And once you get your truck all squared away I'll take ya for a ride in mine ;)

Thanks, Kat, I would like a ride in your truck. I have heard a lot about it from you know who, and it sounds like it can "get down the road. " Course, he said his is faster!!! ;) :)

mtngoat,

DD2's stock HX35/12, 4" exh, comp

355rwho/775ftlbs

Just installed BD3's... ... ... ... .

Suggestion based on my experience:

For for stage 3 injectors, better all-around performance

install HX40

Now, depression sets in. My transmission guy is flat on his back with some NASTY flu, so we had to postpone the DTT transplants till next weekend. What to do... . What to do... . ?? Just wait I guess... .

Mtngoat-talk to Piers. Depending on your driving style and weight of right foot you might run into problems with the DDIII's. The II's are a little less (hp) but less on the egt's. I would definatly go with the HX40. If you do add the fueling box be quick to turn it down or off towing up long inclines.

I was the one telling him he might have some problems with EGT's with the HX40, my thinking on this is in some of the really high altitudes and trying to gain speed on those shorty "S" turns the HX40 might not want to spool up very good. On the open streach of highway I know he would be fine. He tows around 7000lbs. Hence the thinking the PDR35 would spool very quickly and recover faster. He can always run with the comp box off, plus being an auto and here in kansas the truck might be funner to drive with the PDR35. With that said lets here from some of the guys that have changed from the PDR35 to the PDR40.

John

Floor it,he said he was going with a PDR turbo either way,The PDR 40 spools hardly any worse than a stock 35. The EGTS increase your talking about if at all would be for like one second anyway,it wouldnt even have time to get hot before it had boost,if he was that heavily fueld,he;d have smoke too, rolling back into it. When towing heavy in the mountains you shoudl be keeping the RPM's up anyway, lugging to the point of not having boost is not the best way to take on a winding mountain climb.
