Got 2 optima new red tops last week. The hold down that came with the battery is a P. O. S. It does nothing to keep the battery from moving. Has anybody else had this problem?? Thinking about fabbing up my own bracket.

Didn't they come with some "adapters"? I have the stock hold downs holding mine in place .

When you got your batteries, they should have had a red "lid" on top of the posts..... you should have had to remove it to get the cables down on the batteries... ... that lid had the adapters snapped inside under the clear plastic retainer... ... . along with the instructions for installation:eek:..... With those adapters, your stock hold downs should fit properly... ... I also have bungee cords on mine... ... :D

I don't know about his dealer, but Orielly's sells them with a three year free replacement, no pro rata..... which sucks. I'll look at Summit Racing next time, they offer a 72 month warranty.

I have red tops , new and manufacture date of 10/2010 , Mine suck ? Hate to bash a great battery but man, 10 degrees here and my truck cranks way slower then it ever did with my 7 year old stockers ! 3 heat cycles before cranking when not plugged in , killed them. I have been disappointed in mine, with I would have had chrysler bend me over on new ones instead.

The first set of Red Tops I got they gave me 2 trays to put them in so I could use the stock hold down braket. I just put my third set in they gave me two covers. I didn't know what they were supposed to do so I did not use them (threw them on my back seat). They looked good though.

Warranty is 3 years for me. Interstate is right down the road from my business and they know my Mule works. But I got 5 1/2 yrs out the first set and 6 + out of the second.

The "adapters" that my optimas came with are grey. I think i have a few sets lying around if you cant find some.

I used to have good luck with optimas, but not lately. I do a lot with boats, and they used to last good in boats. Now they seem to suck for some reason.

The last 2 I had in my truck were put in ~Jan of 08. One of them was trash about 3 months ago, so I just replaced it with an everstart from wal-mart. I warrantied the optima for a new one, but I will just put it in the boat or something. I probably wont run optimas again after both of these two bite the dust.

Are you using the Red Tops, Blue's, Yellow?

On the truck, red's. In the boat, blues. Ive only had one yellow, in the 5th wheel... it lasted good but it was an old optima.
