Kubota Diesel questions?

Has anyone tried this product? I was doing my 40 K maint yesterday and decided I really should clean up the engine bay.

I know, I should be arrested for child abuse for not doing it

before now. Went digging under the kitchen sink. Saw several products that held promise. Then I saw the bottle Od Orange Clean. Grabbed it up and started squirting the engine bay. Smells nice. Let it set for a couple of minutes and took the hose to it.

Man the grease just disappeared. Had to spray a couple of spots and the puke bottle again, but it cleaned up very nice with no elbow grease. Now to figure out where the boss bought it.

Simple Green works wonders too. Spray the compartment, let it soak for a few minutes and hose down. Hot engine works even better.

Yeah, Orange Clean rocks! Simple Green is awesome stuff too. I go thru it pretty quickly. Makes cleanup after oil changes a snap.

Just don't use Greased Lightning. It's waaaaaaaaaay too strong for basic engine compartment cleanup. Dissolves the text on labels, removes the white paint from caps like the windshield washer bottle. . very strong stuff. And don't breathe the mist after you spray it. Even Simple Green is nasty. Those accidental whiffs are not fun.

;)

Orange clean and Simple green are great.

Be careful of the purple cleaners like Castrol, way to caustic. It will too dissolve paint etch metal and take off stickers.

just a slight caution... don't leave Simple Green FULL STRENGTH on valve cover or nice aluminum parts as it tends to etch also. . it's ok diluted down or short time on parts. . but full strength and long time is a no no

Most of the orange-based cleaners work pretty darned well. 'Orange Goop' is commonly available, among others.

Some years back, the circuit board manufacturing industry discovered that certain compounds in oranges (or orange peels) clean the board as well as the nasty chemicals they'd been using for some time. And the orange, being a natural product, is much more environmentally friendly. And not long after, orange-based hand cleaners started appearing.
