Order Status check..

I just ordered my '05 lb QC 3500 DRW Feb 15th... Dealer said 8 weeks... . He calls to day and says they have a VIN and gives it to me... New truck due around March 20th... Cool, but Oo. wtf??? Anyway, i know there is a way to check status with your VIN and would appreciate if someone could steer me to it.

From what I understand you use to be able to get that information directly from Dodge and once it shipped you could track it via the railroads tracking system. This link has instructions but I never tried them http://dodgeram.org/buying_info/Order_status.htm. It appears that tracking via the railroad web sites is no longer available to the general public.



I have just been e-mailing my dealer every couple weeks and I was told my truck should have shipped yesterday. 8 weeks sounds about right in my case anyway, he is quoting it will be in transit for 4 weeks but he says off the record it should be quicker. I placed my order the first week in January.

Mine is supposed to be here by the end of next week, ordered on 1/3/05, so 8 weeks sounds about right.

I ordered on February 7 and was told 8-12 weeks by the dealer. On the 11th it was in D status and by the the 15 it was D1. The dealer told me that it was to be off the line about the 23rd and they should be seeing it about the second week of March. I would like to believe that is the case and I will have the truck in about five weeks, six at the longest.

When I first started talking to the dealer in late December they were telling me it would 12- 16 weeks.

I ordered my truck Sat Jan 15, which meant it likely got filed Monday the 17th. Salesguy told me it was already built and in K status on Feb 4. We're expecting it next week unless it gets delayed by Customs or something from Mexico.



Sounds like as long you don't order something really weird, in supplier delay, or very popular, they'll bang it right out.

Your time frame sounds identical to mine. This is cool, my last truck took 3 and a half months from order to delivery!

Tracking can still be done, I just did it today on my new truck. At least on Union Pacifics website,as long as you get the tracking number from your dealer. Oo.

Don't waste your time calling Chrysler Customer Service(???). They will only give you minimal information and will not or cannot give you a rail car number. All they have told me is that "it is in shipping status, call your dealer. "



My dealer has been less then helpful. All they will tell me is that it shipped on the 28th of February. Basically they say it should show up any day, but are not able, or will not give me rail car information and have essentially been telling me its in KZ status since the 25th of February.



I don't know why Chrysler did away with the ability of customers to check on the status of a vehicle, on their own. I really hate having to depend on the dealer for this information. I hope the delivery goes better then the rest of this process.
