So I was called last night and told that my truck is on the train (ordered 4/28!). I then asked her to start setting up the schedule for getting the exhaust brake installed, and she said that they dont like to do that. They want the truck paid for first, then set up the install. This sounds fishy to me... anybody have any insight?

You sure she didn't mean you sign the papers to purchase the truck (paid for in the dealer's eyes) before they install the Jake Break? They probably won't install it on a truck that isn't yet purchased, because it might make it harder to sell to the next guy who might not want to pay the extra for it. Just a thought.

Compleatly reasonable. It is about 6 hours of labor costs alone for the brake install. If the truck gets there and you walk away from the deal they may have harder time to sell the truck.

All depends on the dealer. I bought my 03 Ram 4x4 in Indiana. I live in NY and did all transactions by phone, including adding the Jake Exhaust Brake. No money of any kind changed hands until I went out to pick up my new Ram. Everything was ready, Pay and delivery and head home. Nice to deal with a relaxed dealer.

Same here dealer got truck ready before I sign the papers

The dealer knows me I just pay the difference and drive off. I really like my truck with the automatic trans.

That makes some amount of sense (but they do have other trucks on the lot with Jakes already in them). I was hoping to be able to roll the Jake into the financing package.

That's a pretty quick turn around, if your truck was ordered and built through Mexico. They have a habit of letting them sit in post production lots and rail prep yards. Let us know when it arrives... ;)

I would ask them if they could install the brake if you paid for parts and labor up front on a credit card and then get a credit back to the card when you take delivery of the truck. If you back out of the deal, you're out the brake and installation costs. My dealer installed my Sirius radio (lots less money than the brake) before I took delivery no questions asked.

Another option might be to put down a larger deposit on the truck to cover the brake installation. The deposit can be credited back to you when you take delivery if you want to roll the deposit into the loan.

Another another option would be to buy the brake and install it yourself if you are handy with tools. I've done three of them and all went just fine.

That does sound kinda fishy. If you qualify for the financing of the truck with the E'brake the dealer should not be able to tell you that you can not get both at the same time. I have had no problems being able to finance the E'brake with the truck as I have the same thought as you.

Infact the guy at the dealership even told me I did not have to order the E'brake at the same time as I was ordering my truck as it is a dealer installed option and the parts dept. probably had one or two on the shelf as we were talking about it.

Also, are we getting twins? Sure starting to sound that way. :-laf

Just about twins - 'cept yours is gonna have a bigger butt! :-laf

I'll talk to her again about it - I'm sure that with a finance package, they put it on.

I've been kinda draggin my feet on getting the new accesories ordered. I think I'm going to bite the big bullet and get J&J Millenium boards for it. There was a Inferno Red one camped by us last weekend in Winthrop - Chrome/polished stainless sure looks good with that color.

I prefer to think of it as well endowed. :D

And yes, chrome/polished SS does look good on the Inferno red. I also have a small list of bling that will be waiting in my shop for the arrival of my new toy, heck I even have an appt. with the paint shop to have my SRT hood painted. The only thing I do not have a line on is an SLT front bumper. :(
