I just pickup a 2018 3500 Tradesman Crewcab 6.7 L Auto on the 23rd of March DRW 410 gears. My 2007 F350 Ford oil cooler went out and rather than fix it I went and purchase a new Ram. I stopped at the local Dodge dealer and no buddy would talk to me. So I went home got on the internet then got a price from a dealer in Anchorage. Told them I wanted the Tradesman 3500 when it came. In 3 days I had my truck and drove home 420 miles and got 16.8 miles per gallon.

I have now had my RAM 6 months, as a converted long time GM guy, still lovin my RAM.
Ride is great, towing power is awesome, no issues so far other than shift linkage recall that took dealer about 30 minutes to complete and when installing the 55 gallon Titan mid ship fuel tank I found the right front suspension Bump Stop is missing (dealer has ordered)

Received a call from my Ram salesman today. Truck is expected to be delivered April 19-23. Hope it is all I expect!

ours never stops impressing us!. 2017 3500 dually 4x4, long bed, aisin, 4:10s, auto level and prep, longhorn laramie..

Throttle lag seems to be a hit or miss problem. if you stomp it the torque control will not let it just tear off. I personally have had no problem with my 14 .

Rob, I am considering installing a Titan mid ship tank and would appreciate any advice you have on that subject. Any problems with the install? Any extra parts needed that were not provided with the tank?

Thanks! Dennis

I am not Rob.....but there is a GREATTTTTT article here by BILLUA

Thanks for the link. I limited my search to the last year - should have looked further! Local diesel shop with good reputation recommended against Titan due to installation difficulties and additional parts required. I am looking to see if this is just BS or factual. Transfer Flow's web site says they do not make midship tanks for the 2018 trucks, so looking for other options. Local shop also suggested that Transfer Flow DOES make these tanks, just have to call and talk with someone knowledgeable of their product line. Will call them next week during business hours.

Thanks for the help!

Added the 3.42 gear ration to my signature. Ordered the truck on February 26th, so will be a long time before it arrives and I can report on towing. May need to check into reinforcing the pin box on my Montana due to the added torque. :)

Dennis

IF it is truly a SRW Single Rear Wheel, 3.42 are the only ratio available. LOVE MY 3500 HO 4x4 Aisin SRW. Tow a 16K 5th wheel at 24,500 combined. SnoKing

SnoKing,

It is a SRW, so yes it will have the 3:42 ratio. Looking at your posted picture, it would appear I have ordered your truck! Mine will be a long bed, but otherwise not much difference.

Hey welcome back! Not too much has changed around here, not even the basics of the truck itself. I was at the auto show last week, and sat in, basically my truck but current. I honestly felt right at home, and even the drivers door sounds the same on closure. I’m afraid to drive one though, cause then I’ll want one!

I’m in a similar situation. I sold my 2003 SLT 3500 last month and ordered a 2018 Laramie 3500 two weeks later.

I’m hoping the new 3500 will be as dependable as the old 2003.

Received the call today from the dealership that my truck has arrived. Will be picking it up tomorrow. Ordered the truck on February 26 and will receive it on April 28. :) Pretty much the 8 weeks the salesman predicted. Will post some pics when I get done drooling on it...

As soon as I get the new truck in shape to tow I will be posting the 2003 for sale.

After much thought and gnashing of teeth, went with the 3.42. Hope the lower 1st and 2nd gears in the Aisin make the difference.
I have the AISIN AND THE 3:42. No complaints I tow at 22K gross if I get into headwinds I pull it out of 6th and leave it in 5 th! When pulling mountian passes I drop it to 4 th till I clear the passes. No complaints at all totally stock truck

Any first impression on the new truck? I made an inquiry on my ordered truck and it appears delivery will take longer than expected (11 weeks to ship date). Also the color I ordered (Granite Crystal) is now showing a 200 dollar added charge. Wondering how they can add a paint charge for a standard color?

First impressions: I only have 200 miles on it, so pretty early. The truck came in 8 weeks and was exactly what I ordered. So far I have found no fault with the truck. Although it is clear the power is restricted in first gear, there is no throttle lag apparent as has been suffered by other TDR members - hope it does not sneak in later. It rides much smoother than the older 2003 2500 when empty even though it is a 3500. The transmission shifts are smooth and firm and it does not hunt at least when bobtail. Drives straight as an arrow on good road. The exhaust brake works better than I expected, but I have never had one before so I may be too easily impressed. It is much quieter than the 2003 as well. Lots of bells and whistles to learn. The dashboard display has a plethora of information to display. I wish it had exhaust manifold temperature, but maybe I just have not found it yet in the menus. The only difficulty so far is setting up the Uconnect system with SiriusXMGuardian. The agent with English as a second language put an incorrect email in - now I have to wait for a supervisor to deactivate the account and set up a new one. Oh well, minor complaint and not on the Ram. Anything else I should look out for on a new truck?

Dennis

I had a 2011 and the 2018 exhaust brake is so much better, it flat throw you into the dash. When my truck did it's first regen, smelled of ammonia really bad and have since not smelled it. So far mpg is much better than the 2011, 11-12 around town, 16-17 hwy. The 2011 would only get 9-10 around town and 15-16 hwy. I've had mine 4 months and 3700 miles and no complaints, expect for the cruise control issue being talked about on this forum.
