My family has outgrown the Quad Cab so after much debate I ordered an '06 3500 Laramie Mega Cab today. It's loaded to the gills minus the sunroof, roof marker lights, and the Uconnect phone option. My only wish was Dodge would have upped the GVW for '06 to match the Ford but they didn't, and GVW alone was not enough reason for me to buy a Ford.

I admit the Mega Cab is pricey (dealer said it's the most expensive truck they have ever ordered :{ ) but when you consider that Ford does not offer a DVD player, navigation radio, exhaust brake, or a Cummins  the reasoning for the price difference becomes a little more obvious.

Oh well, now I just need to manage through the next 8 weeks with the '04.

I know, we got 4 SLTs in where I work part time, They are huge in the back seat! I'm a big man and the only thing that I've ever been in with that much room is a Limo!

Picked up my truck last night at the dealer for service work, they where unloading 3 mega cabs last night. One was priced for 45 and the other 53, didnt check the 3rd one. They are huge in the back, I bet the side door windows are 30" wide. I liked the storage behind the back seat, lots of room for things to be stuffed back there.

There's no doubt that these bad boy's are pricey. Mine will sticker for 54,585 not including the exhaust brake (pricing N/A at this time). I'm looking forward to all bells and whistles but I sure could do without the monthly payment :--) .

Sounds like the Mega Cab is the same size as the "6 pax" (3+3) trucks they make. Dodge used to make them back in the day, Ford and Chevy still do.

Mega Cab is MUCH bigger than any previously offered crew cab. Rear seat legtoom is a minimum of 44 inches, the current Ford SuperDuty Crew is 41, plus the Mega Cab has expansive space behind the seat as well as the ability for that rear seat to recline. If it was offered as a long bed, the Mega Cab's wheelbase would be a full 8 inches longer than the SuperDuty Crew long bed - and since the long beds are the same length, that 8 inches is all cab, and all back seat area. space.

That wasn't what he was talking about.

They made trucks that had 6 doors and 3 rows of seats.

The abbreviation "pax" is an industry term for "passengers", not doors. Chevy/GNC Crew Cabs used to have a "3+3" badge next to the rear door. And neither Ford nor GM make a 3 door truck today - note Nate said "Ford and Chevy still do. " He is talking about Crew Cabs, something Dodge has not offered in the US since the 80s.
