Congrats you'll like the sound. I actually like it better than the Banks that I have. My buddy has Rips on his 2002 sounds schweet.
 
Seems like I've read here on the TDR that having welded hangers is the way to go versus bolt-on, and wouldn't 14 gauge be better than 16 gauge? If so, is giving up those plus's worth the $$$ savings?
 
Congrats, I love mine you will be stomping on the go peddle for a couple of days just so you can hear that sweet sound :-laf

Congrats on the exhaust, and sanyata, you can have the hangers done however you want. Mine are welded, but I also had Rip do the install. I love my RR 4"!

The advantage to 16 ga is weight savings. Most companies use 14 ga because it's easier to mandrel bend. If you're in an area where rust isn't a problem 16 ga will work great for you. If you want the hangers welded just ask, he can do that too.

Personally I do not like welded on hangers. I have had rubber mounted hangers that were welded onto a pipe, crack the pipe because of the harmonics. The front hanger on our pickups are a prime example.



Rip is a great guy to deal with, and that is an awesome price!

Wouldn't 16 gauge be easier to mandrel bend because its thinner? And14 gauge being more beefy, wouldn't it be stronger and technically last longer? The wieght factor isn't much concern on a 7,000lb. truck. Just trying to understand the differances as I'm just tryin' to figure out what to buy because I'm ready to "jump in" on the bombin' thing... . Oo.
 
I asked Rip about the 14/16 gauge options, he told me he hasn't yet seen a true 14 ga. mandrel bent system. The ones he's seen and cut into are 14 ga. everywhere except the bends which are 16 ga.

He also claims he didn't know of a machine capable of making a true mandrel bend using 4"/14ga pipe.

This of course is just what I was told by Rip. He's installed over 200 of these systems and swears by them, I trust his opinion as do many others here on TDR. Personally, for the difference in price, it's a no brainer, sure the 14 gauge is a little bit heavier and beefier, but for twice the money... . no thanks.
