Ordered replaced for saltwatered truck

Ordered our replacement truck today for the one that got damaged on the boat. Decided to go up to 3500 SRW, instead of 2500 that we originally had ordered. Don't like the clearance lights but will live with them. I got a guarantee in writing that I would get at least the $2500 rebate that is in effect now. If it goes up I will get that. Dealer agreed to give me the same trade in as originally had. I am supposed to get priority on the build date. Now the wait begins again. They said all but 14 trucks on the ship were totaled.

What happens to the trucks that were totaled? Do they get cannibalized for parts? Anyone know?

Clearance Lights...

I'll take your clearance lights off your hands for ya! Just put tape over the holes left in the roof. Obviously, I'm just kidding. Actually, I'm taking a crack at DC for putting tape over my rocker panel holes.

Good choice. I would have prefered not to have the clearance lights, but you can't see them from the inside, and the extra 900 lbs of capacity will keep me legal. It's amazing to me how few of the 3500 SRW the dealers order for their lots. Almost all are 2500's. With all the weight of the Quad Cab, 4WD, and CTD, these trucks really need the 9900 lb rating just to match the capacity of the 3/4 ton trucks from years ago.

DC is making good on their promise to get the saltwater trucks moved up in the production schedule. I ordered the replacement on Dec. 29. It went D1 on Jan. 8 and I got the Vin # to. Considering they didn't get back to work until the 5th, they definitely hurried the order up. Hopefully it won't take 10 weeks like the last one.

Clearence Lights....

I used to make fun of them (and then I got a 3500). My 6 and 8 year old boys like them and I have to admit they do look kind of nice at night, especially with the travel trailer hooked up and all its running lights on as well. You will get used to them. I swear that I have seen single rear wheel F350 Fords without them so they must not be a legal necessity.

Clearance lights are only required if the fixed body width is over 80 inches. Then, you must have front and rear (thus the tailgate lights on duallies).

Some states require them based on the GVW...



I know that in MA - a dually needs (operational) clearance lights, commercial tags, and road flares... .
