i iam getting ready to order a fully loaded o6 3500 swd quad with auto. does anyone know if the exhaust brake has to be ordered when you order the truck ,or can i order it from the parts dept. after it comes in. i can get a good price through parts since iam good friends with the parts mgr. i was wondering if the factory does something special to prep the truck for the e-brake. thanks a lot, joe .

It is actually installed by the dealer, but you still put it in the order. They say that brake works great with the auto.

I had mine installed at the dealer. As mentioned, I think that is the way they do it. Technically it is supposed to be installed prior to delivery to get coverage under the 3/36. All of the '06's come prepped for it so there is nothing special you need to have done.

I did find that the tech who installed mine had the vaccum line to the acutator kinked so I had to fix that. I also hated the mounting on the shift lever. I ended up cutting a section of the mounting bracket off and installed it behind the plastic panel below the steering wheel. Mine pokes up behind the turn signal stalk now. I can't see the little led telling me it is on but I generally pay enough attention to my driving to know if it is on or off ;)

I love mine... . Ordered with truck and installed with delivery. I always leave mine on. Is this a problem??? First Ebrake I have owned...

Dealer told me it was 10% discount if you ordered it with the truck. Seems Dodge ships the brake to direct to the dealer with your name on it. They wanted $1400 installed. I bought it for $1020 (including 6% tax) direct from cummins. I enjoy installing stuff so I don't count my time as money.

Whatever accessories you purchase at the time you buy the truck, whether installed by the factory or by your dealer (or even handed to you in a box, like my Mopar cell-phone hands-free unit -- "installation" was simply plugging it into the cigarette lighter port) have to be listed on the original purchase order/invoice to qualify under the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty, AND to be covered under any extended service contract you might purchase.
