I want to order Darrin's steering stabalizer and was asked for my social security number. Is there a way to get the stabalizer with out giving out your SS #. Identify theft starts with your SS#. Not that I mis-trust these people but is giving a requirement? By the way I wasn't ordering it directly from Darrin but another Canada ordering place. Supposely it is a new law when shipping to US.

Thanks

I ordered one from Piers about two weeks ago and wasn't asked for a SSN. Strange indeed. I would be leary about that too.

Where you ordering with a credit card? That is the only reason I can think of to ask for SS# to maybe cross reference to make sure card is not fake or stolen?

Craig

Yes I was ordering by credit card but have never had to give SSN. Said it was a new lawwhen ordering across the Canada/Us border.

To Bob, the web site you posted didn't list the DDS on their site. Do you have to just call? What do they get for the 4X2 version?

If you will check social security laws, it is only to be used by government and employer. I have had them ask for it and

refused to give it to people. Guess what they still sold me the product.

Interesting...

I sent them a check, directly to Darrin, about a week ago. Haven't heard anything yet, but don't expect to as I understand from other TDR threads that he is quite busy making these.

I've never been asked SSN, but I always seem to have a conversion fee on my Visa bill for canadian funds. WTF is that?

(Wordlperks Visa thru Northwest Airlines)

Sent a check, got it two weeks later, installed it, works great and would do it again. No SSN's involved.

Hi. US customs apparently has always required a SSN for any crossborder shipments, but have never really enforced the issue. After talking to just about everyone at customs today, I was told that I don't require a SSN, to send these out. US Customs could call the person it is going to and ask for verification which MAY include a SSN, but they said it is unlikely. This is done for unusual or suspicious packages, which falls under anti-terrorism laws.

I guess we can understand why they have to be careful these days.

BTW, we are shipping Fedex now.

Take care everyone.

I'll try shedding some light on everybody's concerns.

We have been recently told by the custom brokers that we need the customers SSN or Federal Tax I. D. # to ship south.

With this said we started to ask our U. S. customers for their S. S. # or F. T. # and most haven't questioned it and a few have. We don't blame anyone for being concerned with giving out their S. S. # or F. T. # and feel this is unnecessary our selfs but have tried to follow their requests.

We have seen your response and will take a stance. Business as usual until we are forced otherwise.

If I remember correctly, Piers has a U. S. address that they can ship from so they do not have to play the customs games on certain shipments.

I will try to make this clearer. We at PDR do ship out of Lynden WA but most of all our parts come out of our Canadian shop and is packaged and driven across the boarder to our U. S. warehouse, where UPS picks up and delivers to our customers.

Sorry

I'm sorry I ever started this thread. I'm sure most have figured it was Piers I was ordering from. These people have been so nice I feel bad I ever posted. Mark has called me a couple of times and I understand the law now. Again my apology to our fine friends across the northern border.

Hey who cares about shipping issues. I want some feed back on how this thing works. Does it? I just put the 59 series Eagle Alloys on my truck with 16X10's and 285/75/16's. Boy is the slop twice as worse on the truck. And I just put the 2. 5" level kit in the front today. I come across the stabilizer today and was quite wowed by it. Thats a hunk of metal. Most of my slop is now comming from my gearbox. I really would appreciate some feed back. I would like to order next week.

LOL does it work... . let me see. Does "Its a bargain at twice the price" answer anything. I had wander and all sorts of horrible habits (bumpsteer that was horrible) and when I put on the DSS a LOT of it went away. I suspect the remaining problem is the track bar. 35K on stock bar and 15-20K is rough gravel roads. I have had larger than stock tires on it since 5K miles.

Buy it you wont be disappointed

SSN

There is no reason to supply a SSN. It is against the law for a business to use your social security number for identification. Sometimes hackers can fake a page and steal information for fraudulent use. DO NOT order from this web page!! Wait and see if this requirement disappears form the site, or order from someone else. ID theft causes far too much greif to worry about saving a few bucks on some purcase.

DSS

I ordered my DSS from Rip Rock at the source. He was more than helpful and had "a few " in stock. Got it fast and put it on that day. What a difference. The wandering has dissappeared. I should have done this sooner Oo.
