Oregon members, wth? No topping off

I just found out that Oregon no longer allows "topping off". For me, that's another 3 or more gallons after the pump shuts off. It drives me nuts that I can't even pump my own in Oregon, but this is crazy. At one time, a few years back, I was told that you can pump your own diesel in OR. Is that true?



The reason I ask about this is that we travel to Washington at least once per year. I hate not being able to fill the tank as far as I usually do. I guess it's an OCD thing. :-laf I want to see the fuel at the top of the filler. Hopefully, since we're going a different route this year, I can get through Oregon without having to fuel.

What I alway do is hop out real quick and startle them saying "I know Im from the most fkd up liberal sht hole on earth, and i'll be pumping my own fuel today thank you". :-{}



Have yet to have anyone in Oregon say no.

As Tom stated in his description, DIESEL not gas you idiot!! They won't argue, they don't want the liability for there screw up. And Also, I think you'll find they made the law for employment purposes, to create more jobs, for some one else to pump your gas, The Oregonians don't want to smell like they just left the gas pump. The Execs etc. (I apologize to those Orgonians who are sensitive about my statement. )

Found out you can make it through Oregon on 5 without having to stop. Coming south today, it was close. Stopped at the first diesel place north of Yreka. There was a kid w/ OR plates in front of me trying to figure out how to make the gas pump work! There is a whole generation of Oregonians who don't know how to pump gas!:-laf

I just filled up at the Space Age in Lincoln City Or. the attendent started it but had me finish. I have always filled my self with only 2 problems with attendents in 7 yrs. Harry

If I remember correctly it's the State Fire Marshall who controls the filling stations and who can pump fuel. He thinks the citizens of Oregon are too stupid or incompetent to pump their own gas.

Actually it's MOST of the folks in Oregon who see NO ADVANTAGE in having to PUMP their own fuel . it has failed to get overturned by the voting public. ... . they see it as going backwards... . and especially the ladies who don't want to get out of their cars and TOUCH a smelly pump... . they see their fuel as being the same or cheaper in $$$ as neighboring states and say. . "Why would we do something that costs the companies LESS and we'll still see no advantage?"



I'm not justifying it - only I have listened to it for 35 years as I live within 1 mile of Oregon..... and worked there for 30+ years... .
