I have enjoyed for a long time seeing the Cummins on top of the reliability heap (IMO).
It's still on the top, just not so far ahead of the other heaps. :-laf

Wonder where EB is, he should be coming up on 85,000 miles by now! Be nice to see another update from him.
They are far better than Ford, but stout rig, I respectfully disagree. Maybe in the 2WD but that independent front suspension 4X4 is weak and the D/A fans will admit it, but only to a fellow GM fan. The aluminum heads also adds a weak link in the armor and is the reason they added extra head bolts when they went to the LBZ. The LLY 5spd I had to drive for 22K miles before I got my contractors license and started my own business, was horrible on MPG and was told it was normal when I complained to the service manager. It ran hot all the time and the "torque management" when trying to pass would go into limp mode to save the Allison from the high torque, I thought the Allison was a strong trany? The D/A is better than Ford, but I would never buy one unless D/C stop building theres with the Cummins and started using the International Diesel (PS)The duramax is a stout rig, I wouldn't even put them in the same league as ford. My duramax was great.
Like I said before, the D/A fans will not admit the IFS is weak unless your talking to another D/A fan. You just need to go to TDP forums to see the complaints on the IFS and as far as disagreeing, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree :-lafRVTRKN... . I will respectfully disagree with you on the 4x4 thing. The duramax had an awesome year sled pulling in the street class. Matt cooper (nwpadmax), tony burkhard Tomac just to name a couple. Their IFS trucks dominated some pretty strong competion all year long. Matt didn't break a single part on his truck all year long up until the very last non-points pull. And it was a rear... go figure? Now that being said... I drive a cummins. I don't sled pull with my daily driver and I picked the dodge cummins for a reason... overall longevity. So do I really disagree with you? Yes and no. Your points are all well taken.
You shouldn't stick your finger in there during a regen :-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-lafI can stick my finger into my exhaust at anytime and come out with a finger I can eat with. That means a lot to my children and me. I love my 6. 7L. I still have low milage but most of the 6500 miles has been towing heavy in rough terrain. I still plan to do all I can do to improve the air flow from the air filter to the exhaust tip. Improved spray/flow injectors, cool air intake, better intercooler and improved exhaust. All these things should not clog DPF. Programmers are another animal. That may come much later after all the smoke and mirrors clears up.
My 6. 7L has been great. :-laf
I would like to see the Cummins from the factory with the power and performance the motor is capable of ! Dodge released the HP/TQ info so early the general had time to best it. #@$%! Now ,AGAIN, we have to wait for the inevitable reliability issues to prove who's really top dog. I dont think its too much to ask of Dodge however, to up the stakes and add 25hp and 50lbft to the 6. 7 just to SHUT THOSE GUYS UP !:-laf
Pay no never mind to what the Furd and GM guys are saying, their just jealous!
