I'll soon be installing an aftermarket clutch in my truck. I was wondering, with all the bombed rigs out there I rarely read about drivetrain problems(due to bombing) other than weak clutches and auto trannys. what is the next weakest link after my clutch? Is anyone blowing U joints out there??

I have not seen too much carnage on the driveline. Yes, you can break anything if you try, but generally that is not the case with 500+ HP trucks driven/raced on the street or track.

The u joints are Spicer 1410 which are huge and don't see them breaking much unless they run out of grease or bearing in them fail.

Hope this helps and provides some peace of mind...

Center support bearing can be a major headache on the 2 piece drive shaft trucks. One of the reasons I got a regular cab was so I didn't have to worry about it.

sledpulling or racing can break a few things like--

1)u-joints

2) yokes

3)axles

4)output shafts

5)clutches

6)turbo's

7)head gaskets

8)input shafts

9)the bank

I've seen all of the above either on my truck or others and heard of some of these things breaking when not pulling--

flexplates and the front hub on the autos have broken that I know about---I broke a sprag gear also somehow---of course most of these parts are on trucks with some hp ..... chris

I had to put bearings in the 80 before 50k miles. The carrier had . 0015" clearance and the pinion was down to 1 in/lb preload. Craig
