Hello Dan Pyles here again, I know I am new to the CUMMINS engine and all, But, I was just wondering, instead of making a "TAB" to cover the the KDP, Would it be a bad Idea to get a longer pin that comes to the front of the cover and therefore the pin can't possibly fall out. Let me know what you all think. I need to perform this fix to my '95 I just purchased. If this is not a bad idea for some reason I think this is the way I will go.

Thanks, Dan.

It would work fine I'm sure if the old pin was loose enough to easily pull out. That is seldom the case however. Most are very tight and there is nothing to grab on to. Pin is hardened and can't be easily drilled either.

I would see if I could get the "JIG" much easer fix then the tab only takes about 1. 5 hr to do, and you don't have to pull most of the front end apart. Look for a jig in your area at the top of the 2nd gen forum page.

Dan,

That would be a splendid way to fix it if the KDP cooperated. Ron is right, it is almost impossible to get out if you want it out. Even if it's far enuff out that it needs to be driven back in before installing a tab, you still can't got hold of it. It's hard and slick.
