Thx for being patient everyone =) I have now replaced my TPS and to no avail it still constantly kicks in and out of lockup and drops down once in a while into drive from OD and the trans temp light pops on when this happens. I guess now that the problem stems from another source yes? The TPS is for a 97 and I have a 95 they sent the wrong one but im sure its the same. I have the wires pulled out of the harness and no good. I am at ropes end here can someone point me in a direction I am really really really sick of this damn truck. My transmission was rebuilt back in april and is still under warranty would they look at this could it be a mechanical failure? Thx anyone Im desparate!! :confused: :confused:

Sounds like the trans temp sensor or it's wiring is acting up. On your '95 the sender is located in the output line to the cooler right in-between the trans and engine. You can disconnect the sender and jump across the wires with a 700 ohm resistor to trick the transmission into thinking it's not too cold or hot. See if that keeps it locked up, if it does replace the sender. Could also be that the wiring harness was damaged during your rebuild.

have you ruled out the vss? and the brake switch?... . and the gov press solenoid? how about the ground at the pcm? what are the voltages on the tps?

Your trans temp light coming on makes me think its the trans temp sensor. It can get soaked in oil or ATF and fail.

I'll check the trans temp sens, I didnt know that could make it shift erratically. Shen I dont know what the vss is, the brake switch was fixed when the truck was new practically and gov press sol I am unsure about thats the first I heard of that in all the reading I've done. Voltage on the new TPS is good I checked that this evening ruling that out. Thanks for your time ;) :rolleyes:

My 94 auto did the exact same thing on the way to the Texas Rally in 2000. Temperature sensor was the problem. $26 at the dealer at the time. 5 minutes and I was back in business. Too bad I found out what the problem was too late to make the rally,:{

Where are you at?

I have a temp sender you can try before you buy one. I thought I had trouble with mine, but it was actually the throttle linkage was not the correct length when they adjusted my TPS. I'll mail it to you to try if you want to trouble shoot. They're about 30. 00 from the stealer.
