I have done a search but nothing really seemed to answer the question I was looking for or atleast I didnt go deep enough into the search maybe. But are we as CTD owners 'locked' into the New Venture transmissions for manuals? What other options are out there for us? Or what about the auto guys? Why couldnt a guy use an allison 6 speed auto? Or are we stuck with what comes with the truck? yes I know about ATS and DTT and all the 'upgrades' we can do. But just for the sake of information I am just curious why we are 'locked' with them?

You can use a ZF 6spd. that is ued in the Ford. http://www.fordcummins.com/adapters page.htm The shift pattern in them (atleast the one I saw) was simular to the semi transmissions.

That is the pattern that I prefer. Although I haven't seen one personally, I have heard of several people putting 9 or 13spd. Eatons behind. Could've been blowing smoke though.

Am I wrong for assuming that some sort of adapter would be needed to mount an eaton up to our 5. 9's? And if one is needed who would make such a thing?
