I've got a chance to buy a couple of 40' high cube containers for $500 each. They are about 275 miles from my home. The only place I know where to find a shipper is Uship.com but I don't know what's a fair price to pay for transport.

We used a local towing company who also has a trucking division, price was a few $ a mile, but they had a cool trailer that articulated and they were able to off load them next toneach other in a pretty tight space, so that part was well worth it.

My experience is that it doesnt really matter what it is as long as it fits on the trailer (unless its odd shaped and hard to secure or hangs over). A short haul will be a little more expensive because they have to make the money up. I would say your looking at $2.00 to $3.00 per mile depending on fuel prices in your area.

I've seen a 1-ton DRW with a custom tilt flatbed hauling a 40' container over on the Ca coast a couple of years ago. I've searched online for such companies but I'm not having much luck.

The 40' boxes weigh about 8300 lbs

There are several companies in my area that specialize in container sales but they're all about $3500 to $4000, delivered.

see if you can find a 40 foot gooseneck fore sale on craigslist and see if you can rent it and move them yourself.
