These are no longer bumpers. They are crush zones. My front lower section caved last week on an F-150 rear bumper that stopped too quick for me last week. Fo... For..... Forddd ok. Crush helped save For... you know. Anyway, I just took my aluminum foil box off to put a real bed on. It too is a crush zone. Crush crush crush... . George

It is our duty to keep installing the Dodge bumpers otherwise there will be no market for used beer cans & the recycle market will go under putting thousands out of work

My brother just took a piece of railroad track, made new brackets and dared anyone to hit him in the rear again ;) Added stiffeners to the frame rails. On the front of the truck he had a 4" thick by 12" high laminated oak beam for a push bar bumper in the front. Wicked looking!

Bumper

My bumper isn't cursed, it just has a VERY strong magnetic field.

Right after I got the truck, the bumper attracted a skid loader, and a week later it attracted a friends boat trailer.

I hate to read about all this bent metal, but I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Not sure who you're asking, but in my case it was at night in an unlit portion of a parking lot and the pole was painted dark brown.

I'm sure the tinted back windows (truck & cap both) didn't help, but I never saw it in the side mirrors. :(

I wouldn't feel too bad about backing into a dark pole on a dark night. Try backing over the top of a bushhog in broad daylight like I did this week. Talk about feeling stupid. I could see the tractor in my rear view mirror, but I forgot the bushhog was hooked up to it... and I had just got done mowing like 10 minutes earlier. Anyway. I'll be looking for a new bumper skin also.

Can anyone verify that the bumper for a 2003 is the same as for a 2004. I fully expect it is, but would hate to find out after I receive the one from Nick.

My wife ran my 95 out of fuel (damn fuel guage sender, but that's another story) about a mile from the gas station, she called AAA for a free tow to the station. The dumba$$ tow truck driver backed into my back bumper dinged in two spots. The towing company sent me to a body shop where they bought me a new Chrysler bumper that cost $450. 00. The tow truck driver lost his job on that one. The worst part was losing the bumper sticker that I was so fond of.

I replaced the bumper on my '82 Dodge van buy buying a "refurbished" bumper. The replacement had been straightened and rechromed. It looked as good as a new one, did not seem as prone to rust spots and cost a fraction of what a new one did.

Are there still places that do that? Have these 3rd Gen trucks been around long enough for that?

I backed into a pole with mine a few months ago. Just kept browsing ebay and got one for $100 including shipping. Didn't have $600+ for an aftermarket and sure as heck wasn't going through the insurance company. Good thing though was the was no damage to the sheet metal. So, just keep an eye on ebay.

I havent had a single problem. . then again, Im careful when Im backing up, and I make it a point to look around teh whole truck before getting in it.

Sounds to me like some of you need to look into that "back-up" alarm thingie that I believe I saw for sale in Geno's Garage!! Now watch me go out and wreck my bumper! :D :p

I'm believing the curse thing. 6 weeks after I bought my '00 2500, I moved a trash dumpster with the back bumper, putting a nice crease in it. With my '04 3500, I left my truck in our driveway and my wife's nurse friend parked about 50 feet behind me. Now, my 2500 was an automatic and you have to put it in park to get the keys out--not so for the 6-speed. We were visiting when she looks out the window and says "Look! Someone is taking your truck!" Well, I took off like the roadrunner but it was too late. No parking brake+6spd in neutral+inclined driveway... . yep... . my pride and joy backed itself right into the front of her Honda Accord. The Honda lost. $700 damage on the Honda. All I had was a crease on the bumper of my 2 week old truck. By the way, the crease is covered by a TDR bumper sticker. :{

Backed into a very large telephone pole this morning at about 3 MPH. Not paying attention. Struck the passenger side far outer corner of the bumper. No dent and doesn't look damaged, but if you measure the gap with the body on each side it's clear the bumper is bent in on that side by about 3/8".

One more excuse to get a Buckstop! Oo.

Just got an estimate from the adjuster, someones vehicle rolled into my driver side panel in the bed of the truck and bumper.

The price for a new bumper is $535. 00 plus labor. If you want the part number, I can get that for you also.

Sorry to hear about the bumper. It's hard to back up with such loooooong vehicles.
