Bow season opens tomorrow, but I had to go redneck deer hunting and bagged a big 9 point buck this morning.

The deer definitely lost, braked hard and took him straight on. The truck faired pretty well, still drivable with just a pushed back bumper and some little stuff... about $1500 worth and we're good as new. :)

Or...

Maybe it's time to BOMB the bumper. ;)

Same thing happened to me just a little while back. http://www.buckstop.biz/ is my solution. They make a bumper specifically for this. If you want to stay OEM, you can probably get all the replacement pieces right out of the classifieds for a fraction of the cost. Many of the members replace the factory tin foil right from the start.

Wow, it's sure been a while since I've been hunting. Did the same thing you did a few years back in my cousin's farm truck ('95 Z71 extended cab with a Ranchhand front). It was late, there was about 5 guys crammed in the truck (no ossifer, we're not drunk ;) ) and we were out riding the gravel back roads up in MS. Cruising about 50 a decent 8 point started running right along side of us then jumped right in front. We tagged him square, the roller fair-lead from the winch hit him in the ribs. He went airborne and slid about 50' and we stopped. Poor sucker was still alive and hurting badly, so my cousin went and got his pistol and finished the trooper off. It was right before rut and he was in a bad way (not going to get too graphic but he needed to be put down because of the living organisms crawling on him). Anyway, the Ranchhand definitely saved the truck. It even came away with some lovely decorations... little hair here, piece of tissue there, and a little red coloring. :D

Told my wife I'd like to get a new front bumber made for the truck - but I'd want a metal fabricator to make an exact duplicate of the stock bumber out of 1/4-inch steel.
