Was going home from the feed store and low fuel light came on. I thought I could go the half mile to the light and switch tanks. WRONG!! The truck sputtered and died in 150 yards. Had the sending unit in the aux. tank replaced under warranty and it tells the truth now. This is the first tank of fuel through it. A phone call to tdr brother TXRam and he came right on down to put the Okie-Go back on the road. Loosened the fuel lines to bleed the air and in 3-4 cranks it started. Just wanted to say a great big thanks for helping a guy out that was in a bind. He even got to put his truck in 4wd to get his back on the road. Thanks Clint

I carry that wrench in my truck. since the time when the fuel sending unit stuck at 1/4 tank and I ran out of fuel in the left lane of the freeway #@$%! and had to sputter across 3 lanes to the shoulder. Guy stopped and we got fuel at next exit. could not restart and had to get a tow  to Cummins so they could bleed a injector line ( just one ) to get it primed. They did not charge me for the bleed but I had to pay the tow :(

. Oo.

You might want to tweek the float rod so it is not quite that low when it says low.

out of fuel

interesting... ... . i watched an injector install at a SETDR wrench in, and after the new injectors were in, they just cycled the lift pump about three times, hit the starter about 10 seconds, let it rest, cycled the lift pump again, hit the starter about 10 seconds, and then repeated the cycle about three times and it ignited, ran rough for about a minute, then smoothed out. i had hoped that that meant that the 24 v would bleed its own air out if it ran out of fuel... ..... guess that having the fuel still in the injector pump must make the difference???

I wish that was the case. I ran out of fuel and withouth the proper tools and had to be towed. Fortunetly I was under 36k miles and Dodge picked up the tow and the fix.

Okie

Didn't you post recently how nice it was to have that big aux. tank so you never have to worry about running out of fuel?;) :D

Phil

Phil, yes I did. I actually had the oem tank full. The aux ran out and I didn't flip the switch in time. Had I been on the freeway instead of a side road it may have made a difference. Wasn't traveling but 35-40 mph. When I fill it back up I can see how much it takes so next time I will know where I stand on the amount of on-board fuel I have.
