My '99 has been in my shop on blocks since June of last year and the last time started was around mid December. Is there anything I should pay attention to before reinstalling the batteries and starting it? The oil was changed about a thousand before I stored it and fuel filters have less than two thousand on them. Any thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

One thing you may do is bump the starter and make sure the lift pump runs. When mine is parked for extended times it is a habit for me now. It's a real bummer when it starts and dies because of some problem lift pump wise.

Thanks Grant...David, I probably wouldn't have even thought of that...gracias!

Is there a way to disable the VP so you can crank and not fire to build oil pressure?

I know this is possible on some mechanical pumps, and on CR’s I just disconnect the injectors.

Probably not an issue at only 9 months, but it can’t hurt.

A pre-oiler would really be a great addition for these diesels after sitting idle for long periods of time...something akin to the Rolls-Merlin; master on...flip the switch and wait two minutes.

Finally got around to getting the Ol' girl back on the road today. Checked all the fluids, installed the new batteries, cycled the LP a couple times and did one bump start. I let it sit for a couple minutes and it fired in no more than 2 seconds. It did sound slightly rough for about 15 seconds but then smoothed out. I was really concerned with the fuel sitting idle for so many months...especially with what DavidC just went through. Fuel pressure steady at 13 PSI etc. I'm happy.:D

Think a Biocide, next time you store it.

I've been using Power Service Silver for many years on the trucks but after looking at their website maybe there are a couple additions that might be worth using as a preventative measure.
BTW DavidC..glad to hear all went well with your truck.
