I was fixing a melted ground wire by where the horns mount and now the overhead console's thermometer started working. My problem is that it is picking up engine temperature as the sensor has been hanging behind the bumper by the horns. Where does the sensor need to be mounted? Can someone post a pic of the mounting location? Thanks.

On my 2001 it's mounted to the grille, visible with the hood up. The wiring runs up from the cowl area along with the underhood light, then continues to the grille. No pics this time to post. I'll see if I can come up with something.

My sensor is in the wiring loom that goes to the horns behind the bumper. Wonder if I can figure out an easy spot to mount it by the headlight close to a "fresh" air source. Might experiment with an aluminum foil heat shield.

Amos, your ambient temp sensor is located on the lower radiator bracket on the drivers side of the vehicle. Look under the front left side of the truck in front of the wheel. . Sorry I dont have a picture.

Thanks davidson, I'll look and see if I can tell where the hole is to mount it. Does it use a screw or bolt? No big deal I guess I could just use a self tapping screw if I need to.

Jordan, my truck temp sensor is in a different place than yours, but my sons' '95 would be the same. The sensor is located on the bottom front of the radiator bracket between the radiator and the grill on the drivers side.

Look over on the innercooler for a boss for a bolt (M6*1. 0?) in the area described near the ds headlamp about flush with the top of the bumper.

None of them are very accurate in my opinion until road speed is achieved or you will experience heat soaking from the engine and engine compartment.
