Wheres that thing at? I have looked all over the front of my truck and cant seem to find it. The reading on the inside is "OC" all the time. Anyone know whats up here?

I think the sensor on the '98 is located attached to the grill.

OC means open circuit.

Let me know if you need data from the manual on this.

Dan

that would be the place that I didnt look. I suppose the wires could be broke from the hood opening and closing so much. I will check it out in the morning.

danavilla-

the data from the manaul would be very helpful if you would like to send it my way.

Thanks

Well, a missing temp. probe would certainly reflect an "Open Circuit".

Has the gauge ever worked? I can't imagine it did if the probe is missing.

I'll try sending you the section of the manual dealing with the overhead console (& temp probe).

Dan

I guess the missing probe is the problem. Check with your dealer on replacement parts number, find one at Pick-N-Pull or ?

Couldn't send the manual info without an e-mail address.

Never worked since I bought it. It had some front end damage at one point, cause it has a new radiator and innercooler.

Bingo! Body shop didn't put a new one on, I'll bet. You might have to fish around near the firewall for the wire harness that runs along the underside of the hood to plug it in. It probably was pulled from the damaged hood, and got forgotten. The sensor probe should be mounted on a bracket that screws onto the safety latch bracket for the hood, just behind the grille.
